If a company plants trees to offset its pollution, is that climate progress — or is it greenwashing? Critics of carbon markets say it’s the latter. But Sandeep Roy Choudhury, who’s spent two decades financing climate projects from rural cookstoves to coastal forests, says the real failure is discouraging companies from even trying. Hear his…

The discussion is widened to men, particularly from 10:15 but also 9:36. The reason this discussion is women-centred is because these concerns are more prevalent for this demographic.

The body of research on female athletes is much smaller. There is already a lot on male athletes. Sometimes, talks like this on female athletes exist as they start to get studied and talked about more

Sounds like you’re probably male; otherwise, you would understand why this discussion is so important, and that this kind of thing affects every single human female on the planet, including the women and girls YOU love – and definitely NOT for the better. So I hope you at least listened to the first half of this TED talk because I guarantee that if you care about the women and girls in your life, then one of the things you can do to help make their lives immeasurably better is to recognize how certain words/phrases/sentences affect us (both positively and negatively), understand how those effects might or might not change if each one of those words/phrases/sentences were the one we heard more often than anything else ESPECIALLY coming from people we most love and/or respect (and want love and/or respect from) like our parents, grandparents, siblings, significant others, teachers, etc. Also, think about how the more negative phrases might hit differently if someone else said them, if a young girl is being bullied, or if a girl is being groomed and seduced towards a sexual relationship by an older male. This TED talk could actually have a LOT of value if you were willing to take a bit of time to do this because it can definitely help you be a better person to the women and girls in your life, and it might even help you identify someone who has been abused or is likely to be. You want to be the person that ANYONE in your life – regardless of their age or their gender – feels comfortable and safe talking to if they are in some kind of trouble or danger, or if they are hurting because one of their parents is abusive, etc.

“He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.”
Matthew 10:39 KJV
—————————————————
“If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.”
Luke 14:26-27 KJV
—————————————-
34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
36 And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household.
37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.”
Matthew 10:34-38 KJV
———————————————————————-
“And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.
Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.
And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house.
And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”
Luke 9:59-62 KJV
