Surface Pro 7 review: Hello, old friend 🧙
Faris Hanafiah

Glad to see the headphone jack still remains in the Pro variant. With the addition of Thunderbolt 4, this can give Dell Latitude 7320 Detachable and Lenovo ThinkPad X12 Tablet Detach a run for their money.

I prefer the acer concept D 3 Ezel over surface laptop studio

these formats are a failure. i need the detachable surface book display to draw.

September 22, 2021 at 7:44 pm
@Victor Aravena Leal personally I would rather have iPad Pro 11 and acer concept D 3 ezel for my creative needs, the iPad for couch and impromptu creative ideas and the conceptD3 to bring them to life, I’m just waiting for acer to update the concept d3 to Wacom emr pen, 😬

If anything Apple started emulating the Surface Pro line when they released the iPad Pro.

I have a Samsung Tablet that uses the S-Pen. I love it!!! I don’t understand pens that need to be charged. What’s the Reason/Benefit for a charged pen? Seems annoying to me.
Efficaciousuave
September 22, 2021 at 7:54 pm
Bluetooth. If the pen has some extra functionality that relies on Bluetooth, then it needs power, hence the charging. Or replaceable batteries.
Chris Reich
September 22, 2021 at 8:08 pm
@Efficaciousuave Thanks. Still, for a pen, it seems unnecessary.
Just Plain MƎEN
September 22, 2021 at 9:26 pm
@Chris Reich not really. It’s how your device detects your pen is in use, which allows for auto detection. My only problem is they don’t work without the charge, as a basic stylus, to say I will agree with you and that is kinda stupid.

Gotta give this one a thumbs down. Apart from drawing etc.. Why would you want this?!

Typical Miscrosoft. They want you to spent money on accessoires.
For example: They finally added USB Thunderbolt but they are still keeping their surface connect port. Eventough USB Thunderbolt can do more and then some.

Do you know if the surface pen will still attach magnetically to the side of the device, without the keyboard type cover?

New wifi version (cheaper) :v and they claimed that most producers have already built native apps for the pro x

The design of the laptop studio makes much more sense than 360 degree 2-in-1 devices. Also much better than the Surface pro and go. I have a 10-inch Surface 3 – the least practical keyboard. You need some good flat Surface to support your Surface (maybe that’s where the name comes from😂), to support the flappy keyboard and lean the stand behind, which defeats the purpose of being portable… Difficult to work on a train, plane, at college on narrow desks, or just chilling in bed or sofa… My Surface is small, and I already feel the clumsiness of the keyboard. Now imagine the 13-inch version! It must be a big flappy clumsy thing.

With the thickness and price tag of a studio laptop, wish Microsoft would make a traditional laptop with proper 8 core processor and entry/mid range discreet gpu for “normal” power users!

I have used one of these Windows 10 tablets when it was given to me as an employee laptop. Windows 10 on a Tablet sucks horribly! On the same playing field, I have used a HP Chromebook x360 11 G2 EE from school, and it runs so beautifully. It’s a tablet when you want it, and it’s a computer when you want it. It actually is far more functional than any iPad. Chromebooks are surprisingly underrated. This is actually the only “Android” device that I approve of.

By the time you add enough RAM and SSD to do anything useful with Windows, and a keyboard, you’re well north of $2000. And it still won’t do half of what a comparably priced iPad Pro can do, and you’ll get to spend half of your life installing updates and security patches.

THANK YOU for actually showing and using a tablet in portrait. I find it weird people holding tablets by the short sides.
The fact is majority of users use tablets in portrait (iPad analytics proves this), but youtube presenters for some strange reason present and use tablets in landscape – I suspect because Android & Windows were never optimized for portrait tablets orientation to begin with, it looks like MS are improving Windows for that and Samsung tablets are getting wider.

I dream of having a Surface pro with 15-16 inches and thin bezels
mr bucle
September 23, 2021 at 1:59 pm
i would like a 15-16 inch surface pro with large bezels (about 2cm) Firstly, so my fingers and thumbs don’t cover menus touch and information underneath. Secondly so muc less fidgety to use…… i’m more confident with larger bezels.
O N I X
September 23, 2021 at 2:18 pm
@mr bucle I agree with you about this, if the surface is in your hands. In my situation, the tablet is on a stand, I draw on it, so I do everything through a wireless keyboard and stylus) I have a surface pro 7

@O N I X I have just bought a samsung galaxy book 12. A tablet from a few years ago which i didn’t know existed. Very reasonable at £335. 100% Adobe RGB Oled screen, usb-c ports, Wacom EMR pen and large bezels for using like a sketch book. This sounds nearly ideal for my uses. I have tried about 17 tablets to date….. and all seam to have someting missing.

September 23, 2021 at 3:35 pm
@mr bucle I personally bought a Surface Pro, as I work with great persistence, I need full-fledged Photoshop and 3D programs such as Blender, Zbrush. On this typewriter I do big projects, that’s just a small screen for small parts, it’s a little inconvenient. And I can’t take an additional monitor with me, since the instrument was bought for active movement. That’s why I would like to see Microsoft released a line of larger tablets, it would be ideal)

That would’ve been the ultimate Windows 11 2-in-1 Tablet experience, if it wasn’t because of that pedestal fan thiccness at the bottom. And then Surface Book can finally die I guess.
I’ll wait for a second or third generation for that thiccness to be gone, or the updated Surface Book Redesign with Windows 11.

I have had the same surface Pro cover ever since the Pro 4. Used on my Pro 6 and 7. I have upgraded one of my covers to the version with the fingerprint reader. I have been using that on my 6 and have been using it on my 7 as well.

Check out the Sony Vaio Multi Flip from 2013. The surface studio isn’t a very new formula for a 2 in 1 laptop. I still use mine on an odd occasion for art…….I have tried 17 attempts at using a tablet for art…….. still not there yet from any manufacturer!

This in the best in windows for students. But for Devs, Mac is the goto. The thing was Touch is, it does work a bit, but windows just throws me off, i don’t feel great using Windows on a touch screen, idk why but it’s just weird & uncomfortable. For artist & creators i won’t recommend this one, so I’m not sure why you buy it for the touch screen. Thoughts?

It’s more for a business (non-“creative”) crowd. If you take notes often, it fits a workflow, particularly if you have external monitors and keyboards.

I have a question, I used the PC Health check to see if my laptop can run Windows 11, and the only thing that didn’t meet the requirements was my Inter Core i7-7500U CPU @ 2.70Ghz. Is it safe to still install Windows 11?
