Education activist and 2023 Audacious Project grantee Angeline Murimirwa knows the power of educating girls, especially in places where they may not have easy access to schooling. But she says that’s not enough. In an inspiring talk, she clarifies why a support network around girls — from the moment they enter the classroom to years after they graduate — makes a radical difference for their lives in school and beyond. Learn how how her nonprofit CAMFED is building a sisterhood to do just that.

This ambitious plan is a part of the Audacious Project, TED’s initiative to inspire and fund global change. Learn more at .

As much as I agree with the statement and intent here, don’t you think it’s important to focus on those failing in school? Boys.
There’s been such an effort to help girls in school which has worked really well, but completely abandoned boys to some unfair fate in the process.
This just seems like it would lead to an elite hierarchy on the basis of gender.

Boys are left alone these days. No one cares about boys’ mental health and struggles. This gynocentric society makes me sick. As if everything is revolving around women. How about making EVERYTHING 50/50, including human labor jobs in which 99.9% of workers are men?

We all need to hear this. 💜💜💜

Women: You don’t have to do everything, you don’t have to be a supermom, a super housewife, a super professional, a superwoman… Because when your body claims you, there will be few who will remember you tried to be all in one!

So get out of the house, travel, walk, workout, go to the park, go to a gym, eat what provokes you, fix yourself, sleep later, put on clothes you like, be yourself, take care of yourself, love yourself, say no sometimes and do it EXCLUSIVELY for YOU!!

Children grow up but your emotional health is also important and you may not get a second chance.✌🏼❤️😀

How much should we invest in teachers, and what should new investment actually involve? Education innovator Randy Seriguchi Jr. suggests the US should create a “G.I. Bill” for teachers, with a particular emphasis on uplifting Black male professionals. He shares a model of this idea in action through community partnerships in San Francisco, which provide aspiring teachers with graduate school tuition, subsidized housing, personalized fit assessments and more. “If we truly want to elevate this profession to inspire new, diverse talent to join us, we have to improve both the personal and professional experiences associated with teaching,” says Seriguchi.
