Great video. Please advise if you would choose oled over qled for a brighter room and sdr?

    • Joshua

      April 11, 2023 at 11:03 am

For bright room and a large amount of SDR content I’d probably just save some money and get a QLED instead. The QD OLEDs do fine in a bright room but it doesn’t sound to me like the price of the QD OLED is something that would be worthwhile for you for SDR content.

    • Steve Coates

      April 11, 2023 at 11:12 am

@Joshua Ok thanks. I was looking into the QN95C though which is more expensive than the qd oled..is this a bad move?
Thanks for your advice on sdr. I think most tv is still mostly sdr thats the thing, although I do like gaming aswell. 4k isnt as mainstream as 1080p hd yet is it?

What’s the point of OLED having the best picture quality out of the box, when it’s worse than the LED after around 100hr of viewing. You still get image BURN, not for gamers or sports enthusiast’s with static image’s. Like the score or you’re remaining lives!

    • Mike Blenheim

      April 11, 2023 at 4:20 pm

      Wrong

    • Rich Mahogany

      April 11, 2023 at 6:24 pm

Seems like those faults simply cannot be fixed its inherent to the technology. Luckily they’re doing amazing things with miniled now and pretty shortly the local dimming on those will be just as good. That should tie us over until microleds or nanoleds are affordable.

    • Okx Baga

      April 11, 2023 at 6:40 pm

@Rich Mahogany I spent a ton load of cash on my OLED, the motion was a thing of beauty, the blacks to die for, gameplay was epic, the a week into owning it, I could see the games burn in on my normal TV viewing, heart broken. Have a Samsung QLED, couldn’t be happier now

    • Rich Mahogany

      April 11, 2023 at 8:12 pm

@Okx Baga Yeah I’m using my tv as a computer monitor so 100% im going qled. Prob whatever the 2023 version of the qn90b is, or maybe the 2022 model for cheap.

Why do you need to spend what is someone’s monthly rent on a TV. You can easily by a 4K tv for way less than that. Got mine from Best Buy for $280

    • Joshua

      April 11, 2023 at 11:05 am

I can assure you that your $280 4K TV is garbage even if you don’t personally realize it. Now that being said, the highest end TVs pushing $3,500 or more are definitely more for enthusiasts, most folks are happy with less. But there is absolutely a noticeable difference between the trash tier TVs you find at walmart and such and TVs that run well over $1,500. If you’re a movie and TV show lover, you should treat yourself to something that you’ll love. It’s the same reason people buy anything at all. We aren’t meant to just pay bills and work, happiness is treating yourself to things you’ll like.

bro really bought a 4K TV for less than $300 and tried comparing it to $1000+ TVs, same type of guy using a midrange phone thinking its the same as a flagship😂🫵

    • NextNate03

      April 14, 2023 at 5:39 pm

You get what you pay for.

Good quality tv costs more and will last longer.

Your tv can’t even display HDR properly.

Its like comparing a integrated graphic chip to a RTX 4090.
      Night and day difference.

Let’s get you back in the lab Katz. I’ve been watching David Katzmaier since the 1080p era. Before the other guys existed, there was Katz. I enjoy seeing other peoples work, but there was definitely a time that if Katz didn’t review it AND bless it, I didn’t buy it. Dear CNET we want more Katz and Bridgette too, her reviews are cool.

I’m thinking about getting a new TV in my living room at some point but when it comes to OLED has Samsung improved common issues surrounding OLED most notably its “burn in” issues that I have seen commonly talked about on other TV’s?

    • NextNate03

      April 14, 2023 at 6:03 pm

All OLED has burn in issues.

A good question is to ask that will Samsung fix the tv under warranty?

Last time I heard that LG refuses to honor their Warranty if or when it gets a burn in image.

Sony, it’s a mix bag with them.
I heard they have good customer service. From my experience, they refuse to honor any warranties on any of their products.

Whichever OLED tv you buy, make sure you turn on all of the tvs anti burn in settings.

If you own a Samsung phone, that is a OLED screen. For some reason, they call it Super AMOLED.

I recommend buying a Extended Service Plan from the store you are planning to buy the tv from.

      Side Note:
I originally thought the tv manufacturers had overcome the burn in issues 15+ years ago.

      Edit:
Best Buy Service plan will let’s you exchange any product for any other product or gift card.
Be aware that the price is only good for the purchase price of the original unit.
Do not call the Geek Squad #, send an email to the store or go go to the store you bought the tv from.
Geeksquad phone number will give you the run around.
I also had the technicians did a No-Call No-Show on me 2 times.

    • Michal Stoklosa

      April 14, 2023 at 7:15 pm

@NextNate03 will turning on all of the anti “burn in” settings from any of these TV’s prevent burn in from happening in the future or am I better off investing in a QLED?

    • NextNate03

      April 14, 2023 at 8:48 pm

@michalstoklosa6884  I don’t have personal experience with QLED except watching YouTube reviews.
I wouldn’t be the best person to ask.

QLED should have no burn in issues. The high end QLED tvs should come close to the picture quality and black levels to OLED.
As far quality on longevity, I would avoid any of the off brands like Hisense and TCL.

If OLED wasn’t a thing, I would buy a QLED tv.

I going try to leave another comment with a link to a website that I would recommend checking out. They buy all of their products from local stores so the tv manufacturers can cherry pick tvs for them to review.
They test everything everything and give detailed reviews.
They are currently doing long term testing on 100+ tvs that they bought.
Unfortunately, they haven’t fully recovered from C-19 (as for business goes).

My S95B is excellent. If you’re considering a C model don’t skip the S95B that’s VERY cheap rn

    April 13, 2023 at 10:00 pm

Loveu David! Is OLED good for black levels?

    • NextNate03

      April 14, 2023 at 6:23 pm

That is what OLED is known for.

When the part of the screen is black, that pixel is turned turned off.

Do you have a Samsung phone?
The screen is a OLED, for some reason they call it Super AMOLED.

Do a video search of a OLED test.
Watch the video on your phone and tv.
