Razer Edge ($399) vs Steam Deck 64 GB ($399) 🤔

    • Michele Ruzic

      March 8, 2023 at 8:16 am

Exactly, Razer Edge should be $199 (maximum $249)

    • Kyle Ruggles

      March 8, 2023 at 10:35 am

@Michele Ruzic I’d love if they reviewed the Ayn Odin, the PiMax Portal, the RP3+, they don’t break the bank, they’re all in one mostly, and 16×9 screens.

Razer Edge looks like a phone to which they attacked Switch Joy cons. It doesn’t look like a handheld at all.

      March 8, 2023 at 7:28 pm

      You just described a handheld…

That’s basically what the Switch is too.

      So basically the razer kishi

    • SmockJr

      March 9, 2023 at 5:36 am

Because it is a handheld, you don’t have to use the screen you can literally attach it to the phone in your pocket.

    So, I’ll call it:

    1) Steam deck
    2) Switch and other windows type handheld consoles
    3) Razer Edge

It’s a waste! Too wide, rounded corners, pillar boxing with every game aside of android gaming. Really prefer my Odin form factor over this, or the new PixMax Portal looks awesome!

It’s like they just went into a bin and got a whole bunch of parts and just slapped it together.

As a razer fanboy myself, I’ll be the first to say they absolutely missed a golden opportunity with this one, if they would’ve made a PC handheld it would have definitely caught my interest, and I’m not upset that they are after getting into the handheld gaming market, I just think they could’ve done way better

  17. TheCoolDave

    March 8, 2023 at 9:11 pm

Yep, skip it and buy a SteamDeck, it’s epic. No Android that for some reason does not have a good Emulation front end. And PC games run on the Deck and run really well. Crap you can play Nintendo Switch games on the Deck, that is enough said… I love deck, I grabbed the 64gb model and swapped it for 1tb, the best of all worlds 🙂

  18. Jeremy Tanudtanud

    March 8, 2023 at 10:09 pm

I wish that pc games could play locally on android internal storage and external storage without game streaming but have game streaming for users that game streaming by downloading the games from steam and play the games from the internal storage.

Razer should’ve made razer phone 3 instead they make a streaming device. Better buy a Red magic 8 or ROG phone 6 pro than this.

The Razer Edge probably has the perf to play most local Android games well, which puts it a step above the pitifully weak G Cloud (surprised that wasn’t compared with the Edge since it’s an Android+streaming handheld like the Edge is).

However, the Edge is literally an Android tablet with a Rishi controller for the same price as a vastly superior entry level Steam Deck, so stands very little chance of mainstream adoption. Trying to make an Android gaming handheld is a complete waste of time when phones+snap on controllers do exactly the same job and probably cheaper (plus with the flexibility to change the phone or controller independently as well as having phone features that the handheld doesn’t).

The gaming handheld to get for the last year has been the Steam Deck and if the Edge is the sort of new entrant we’ll see this year, 2023 will be the year of the Deck as well.

  22. SmockJr

    March 9, 2023 at 5:31 am

My thing is why is a controller that can be used on a variety different of phones, and performance ultimately comes down to the phone you’re using being compared to dedicated devices?

    • murcielago Cruz

      March 9, 2023 at 3:07 pm

So true. Is this a portable PC or just streaming game device. How much ram or storage?.

The switch and steam deck are portable console but with two different ecosystem. They are like apple and banana

  23. Jason

    March 9, 2023 at 6:25 am

The ultimate portable is none of these. It’s the Win GPD 4. The only problem is that it’s still a crowd funded project and the perk to get one that is has 1TB M.2 2280 SSD, and 32GB DDR 5 memory is 3 times more than the base Steam Deck a $1200. I am keeping my eye out for this when it comes out for retail. It just smokes the competition.
