@WombatsinCombat Xbox is not only identical hardware to the PS5, but also is clocked higher, making it the far superior system.

@WombatsinCombat if you do the research Xbox is abit more powerful, and I own a ps5

Well I would not grade “superiority “ on just specs…. That’s sounds like something a simple person would say

      @EVOLICIOUS
You must be young lmao. Sony was all about power since the PS3 generation. Didn’t get them anywhere. PS4 PRO and PS5 is less powerful than Series X and One X.. but more people want a PS5. Sales don’t lie. Sony has raped Microsoft within sales and demand of their systems.

Whats the point, I gave up trying to buy one . Sony prefer selling to hackers to resale than regular walk in store clients

The 3d audio was awful on my TV (LG OLED55CXPUA)

It’s also only in liner PCM.

There is no such thing as “3D audio”, it’s just marketing lies for idiots that don’t know how audio works.

      September 17, 2021 at 10:35 am

@EVOLICIOUS 3d audio is software…. REAL 3d audio for headphones can be done through software or hardware. For hardware you can make specific speakers in specific positions inside of the headphone. However no matter what 3d audio for headphones kinda doesn’t exist. It’s just emulating the actual experience from home theaters. HOWEVER someone with a home theater claims that the pulse 3D headset combined with demons souls sounds a bit better than his full 7.1 Dolby vision surround sound system where he put speakers inside of his walls and stuff. So I think it’s safe to say real surround sound is dead. At this point developers need to just drop the traditional software audio they use and fully adopt Xbox and ps5 hardware audio solutions.

What do you mean by also only in liner PCM ?
You tested it out on liner PCM ?
What about the rest of the formats have you tested them out yet ?

@Jad Moussallie I mean, it sets it to Liner PCM. You can’t change it. Once you enable 3d audio, you are locked at Liner PCM.

FFS, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS 3D AUDIO. Headphones and most standard speakers have a left and a right. Humans only have two ears. Unless you are talking about 7.1, which has been supported since the PS2, Sony is outright lying.

I don’t know about the PS5 audio but I think you’re missing some information. How do you think, with eyes closed, that your brain understands a sound comes from behind irl? There has to be something more than left and right. It’s because the sound has certain properties, it goes through the skin of your ear from the back of your head, etc. 3D audio is a software idea, the idea is to replicate those distorsions to make your brain believe it comes from behind. Yes the sound itself is stereo and whatnot, but the audio is altered to make you believe otherwise. I think that’s used for example in shooting games to make you “hear” gunshots behind you.

It works really well after I tweaked it a bit. A lot of tvs/sound bars have Fake/Surround sound settings that are on by default and when combined with the 3d audio from the ps5 it doesn’t work very well. But if you turn off all the effects from your tv or soundbar the 3d audio works excellent.

In any scenario the sound from your tv stereo speakers are better. Unless you use a monitor or something with very very poor speakers. But I have a budget tv from 2008 that beats the 3D audio from the ps5… soooo…. When looking at modern TVs they will always beat the 3d audio especially if you have 3d audio and surround sound already on the TVs.

What if you connect the TV via Bluetooth to a pair of headphones? Does 3D audio still work?

  15. We don’t need humans that much.

    September 18, 2021 at 7:43 pm

Yea but it’s still a PlayStation.
