Pixel watch looks better but need a bigger model for consumer who prefer bigger watch or has a bigger wrist.

    • Doc Robby

      October 19, 2022 at 6:08 pm

Agreed. For larger or even medium sized wrists it’s too dainty.

When I bought my pixel 7 pro at best buy, they gave me $200 and I was able to apply it towards the watch, so I got it for $150!! 🥳 It’s the best watch for pixel owners IMO I’ve been loving it so far.

Great comparison! You did a great job illustrating the difference between the two. I ended up going with the Pixel watch. It’s beautiful, more consistent tracking, and currently better promotions so it was actually cheaper than the GW5 for me. Not thrilled about the pay wall, but I love the in depth sleep tracking.

Google should’ve spent more time fine tuning software before rushing this watch out. How is it that Fitbits do certain things but the more expensive pixel watch doesn’t.

  7. Matt Lang

    October 19, 2022 at 5:17 pm

As a clarification, an IP68 certification is basically meaningless if you already have the 5atm water resistance rating. There’s no need to claim dust resistance at that level of sealing, especially at that size of device.

Both watches have 5atm water resistance (50m depth), and should be treated as having equivalent water resistance.

I absolutely love my Pixel Watch. The battery life has turned out to be 0 problem, ending with 25-30% left after 24h use. The big selling point for me is the Fitbit integration. I absolutely love Fitbit. Its a giant W for me.

By the way, Fitbit Premium is absolutely unnecessary IMO. The vast majority of what anyone will use is free.

i live in Germany and some people say, the battery life is good, the others say, its soo bad… i really dont know…

    • Robert Young

      October 19, 2022 at 10:46 pm

@Flosse personally it took me 3 days and then the battery got vastly better. The first couple days it was maybe going 16-18h.

Like is the battery learning? This has been my experience too where it lasted me 32+ hours since my last full yesterday morning. My watch was delivered this past Sunday.

The Galaxy Watch 5 screen looks noticebly lower quality/resolution thant he Pixel Watch.. not sure if its just the camera or what. But I have seen the Pixel Watch in person and the screen itself looks very bright and vivid..

    • Nicollas Rychard

      October 19, 2022 at 7:19 pm

galaxy watch has the highest pixel density, the display glass is only more reflective because it uses sapphire, while the pixel uses gorilla glass

  12. disciprine

    October 19, 2022 at 6:34 pm

Pixel watch sucks but GW5 sucks for locking features behind Samsung phones and having inconsistent battery life.

  13. HeadElastico

    October 19, 2022 at 7:08 pm

Galaxy watch 5 is a more refined, complete and overall better product, price aside. Add in the cost difference, and it seems very hard to make a case for the pixel watch. Not to mention most people’s pixel watches are going to look really dinged up given the design and no sapphire glass. Having said that, i love how the pixel watch looks. Give me a pixel watch 2 with sapphire, better battery, galaxy watch features (such as body composition – I use this a lot) and for God’s sake without a fitbit paywall to just read data! That last point is an absolute deal breaker. Ten bucks a month just to unlock data that is nonsensically hiddej behind a paywall, what an absolute joke fitbit. Just my opinion though…

    • Kristie Smith

      October 20, 2022 at 7:06 pm

      Totally agree.

    • EarthHorse

      October 21, 2022 at 2:30 am

lol, no homework done on this one. I don’t have either watches but I do have a Fitbit (FREE version) and the paid version gets you more analytics on a couple of things and maybe a couple of features I never use. You by no means need the paid version to utilize the data.

    • HeadElastico

      October 21, 2022 at 2:30 pm

@EarthHorse I’ve had four fitbits so far with the last one being thr versa 3. I’m aware you can use the watch without premium. What I meant by ‘just read data’ is that simple data that the watch is already recording and ‘calculating’ – such as readiness score, sleep restlessness etc. are locked behind a paywall, which is complete bs. It’s one thing charging for workout routines and extra content that they continously update.. That’s fine. But to limit the actual features that the watch itself performs and reads.. That’s a crony practice. If I buy a watch I don’t want to go in knowing there’s data in there I can’t read (which is important to me) especially when nobody else has a paywall. Even more so when your device costs 350 odd euros/dollars.

    • EarthHorse

      October 21, 2022 at 2:43 pm

@HeadElastico I understand where you are coming from but to say the data is behind a paywall could be misleading to someone thinking you cannot use Fitbit unless you pay. To me what you get with premium is not worth it, to me.

    October 19, 2022 at 7:24 pm

I’m still rocking the GW4 and I don’t see any reason for an upgrade to any of these watches. btw, gw4 44mm battery life is almost 2 and a half days.

Keep in mind if you don’t spend $10 a month on Fitbit Pro, after six months much of your health data disappears behind their paywall 😥

The Pixel Watch doesn’t look that small in real life

  24. Alex Harvey

why has the pixel watch been getting so much hate for the bezels the Galaxy watch looks like it has equally chunky bezels

  25. Itz Pierre

    October 20, 2022 at 1:31 am

Pixel is good but Galaxy Watch 5 is a better product overall.

  26. Rube Pena

    October 20, 2022 at 1:35 am

Lol. It’s not their ultimate smartwatch its their olny smartwatch

  27. EarthHorse

    October 20, 2022 at 2:28 am

While I agree I wish the Pixel watch was a tad bit bigger, like a 44mm would be sweet. The Galaxy watch 5 just feels like a Galaxy device, and being a long time Google phone owner I love how the Pixel watch just feels like home. The watch should feel like an extension of whatever phone your rocking. If I had a Galaxy phone it would be the same with the Galaxy watch.

  28. Higher Quality Uploads

    October 20, 2022 at 3:28 am

You can play back audio from the Pixel Watch by ignoring the Bluetooth pairing screen and playing the audio through the Media Controls app.

    • Lexy Savvides

      October 20, 2022 at 8:50 pm

No way! I’ll have to test that out. I never could get past that Bluetooth pairing screen though. Thanks for the tip

    • Higher Quality Uploads

    Great review! Forme GW5 win!

  30. Rolins

    October 20, 2022 at 12:41 pm

There’s really no way I’d choose this Pixel Watch over the GW5.

This Pixel Watch is an GW active 1 Gen 2 at $350 + $80 per year in 2022 🤦🏽‍♂️

Also, the GW4 is easily found around $150 currently.

The only thing I would have liked to see on the GW5 is the rotating crown, the digital rotating bezel is not really optimal.

    • EarthHorse

      October 21, 2022 at 2:16 am

unless you move in slow motion the bezel on the GW5 is useless. its way too fast, lol

  31. K B

    October 20, 2022 at 1:46 pm

Apple’s decision to make a square screen is the best layout as you get more bigger content on the screen. The round design looks nice but you don’t as much content on the screen.

    • Madzguy007

      October 22, 2022 at 4:57 am

I already have a square phone… I find square watches ugly af

  32. CG-2101

    October 20, 2022 at 2:36 pm

lol at everyone that was complaining about the Pixel Bezels… look at 0:48 and see how the GW5 has literally the same bezels LOL

    • Brian M

      October 20, 2022 at 3:48 pm

It’s probably not as big a deal for the larger Galaxy Watches. Also up until recently Samsung watches going back to the Gear S2 the bezels were physical, nice to look at, and actually had a function.

    • CG-2101

      October 20, 2022 at 7:45 pm

      @Brian M Okay that’s a fair point!

Very nice review, and thanks for mentioning your wrist measurement. I’ve watched several videos and you’re the first to give us an actual measurement. Much more useful than the other videos that say “I have big wrists” or “I have average sizes wrists” which means absolutely nothing.
