I expect no less of cnet. Completely miss the streamer that’s been available for months and superior to CCwGTV in every way.

Apple TV 4K and NVIDIA Shield TV Pro over everything else.

Agree they Miles better than anything else

      December 14, 2024 at 12:48 pm

For those who know how to use it. If you’re not about to abuse those features, do not get it, go slightly cheaper. That’s my opinion.

Perfect example of only showcasing mainstream products..the onn google tv boxes are really good actually better than what Google offers and not even an honorable mention

    • @paulh6517

      December 14, 2024 at 8:55 am

I returned my onn google tv as the picture shuddered ( i have fiber so it wasn’t speed ). I never had that problem with Firetv but it has its own features. I understand that it may go Kaput soon as Amazon will be replacing it and my old streamers from Amazon will not work. I hope Apple will come out with a new streamer soon. Only Tim Apple knows for sure.

      December 14, 2024 at 8:59 am

Those are the ONLY good Onn products

So does the Amazon Firestick 4K Max (2024) not compete?

    • @PSYCHOV3N0M

      December 14, 2024 at 9:19 am

Of course it does. It wipes the floor with Roku thanks to sideloading and it also supports Wi-Fi 6E while Roku is still stuck on Wi-Fi 5. 🤣🤣🤣

    • @Sir_Tanooki_Dookie

      December 14, 2024 at 9:36 am

I literally own all the different brands streaming devices. I have gone through many Google devices to the most recent, I’ve own 3 Roku devices and had plenty of experience using other people’s underpowered Roku featured TVs (Last years Ultra with the rechargeable battery and headphone jack is my most recent), and just recently bought 2024’s Amazon Firestick 4K Max because a projector I got has an internal port specifically made for it.

The Amazon Firestick 4K Max rivals and even out performs the speed of my Roku Ultra from last year (the newest is just a remote update). And as for a stick device, the 4K max completely dominates the Roku Stick. I returned this due to the lack of memory onboard.

The Google TV I love for casting, but I don’t like how easy the remote buttons are press. My dog, girlfriend and I have accidentally pressed buttons interrupting what we were watching way too much. But the worst thing about it, and wasn’t a dealbreaker for me because you just had to understand settings, was the audio and video options if we’re put an auto was very often cause formatting issues when changing app to app. You would have to either turn off your television or understand what formats your television and the Google TV were compatible of doing after max. Otherwise, if you had the AutoSettings on you would have errors quite often.

I’m absolutely new to Amazon fire stick 4K Max, but I found it crazy that it wasn’t even mentioned considering that compared to the Roku it’s memory storage as far bigger, and switching between apps is far faster than my Roku Ultra from last year and that device is a lot bigger with the same amount of storage. Not to mention that the Wi-Fi is 6E which I believe is better than the devices I mentioned before it.

    • @Sir_Tanooki_Dookie

      December 14, 2024 at 9:42 am

@ I literally own all three of the big streaming devices to their most recent releases.

The 4K max is my newest purchase because the projector I purchased is specifically designed for it to use and you insert it internally. It rivals my Roku ultra from last year because it processes and switches between apps way faster and on top of that it’s only a stick format.

Compared to the Roku stick it’s leagues better especially with the internal storage and its Wi-Fi capabilities. And compared to the Google TV, again the storage is an issue, but I especially don’t like the remote considering how easy it is to press the buttons on accident.

The 4K max is compatible with every HDR format and audio format and has 16 gigs of memory in a stick form. I was just curious why it wasn’t mentioned at all. Is there something I’m missing?

I don’t know how Apple gets away with their insane prices …..lots of dummies out there I guess 😢

    • @mongo2044

      December 14, 2024 at 3:51 pm

If you get it at model end on sale, it is worth the $50 to skip years of bad ads and terrible UI.

Nvidia Shield is STILL the King.

Naw vSee box,Super box are the best streaming devices hands down because of the lifetime free live tv,VOD,PPV, long as the box dont go out it’s worth it 1yr later still going strong no buffering on the live TV channels

  9. @PSYCHOV3N0M

    December 14, 2024 at 9:20 am

Put some respect on Nvidia Shield and Amazon Fire Stick 4K Max.

    😎👍

Value for money easy fire tv stick 4K max above all.

    • @Sir_Tanooki_Dookie

      December 14, 2024 at 9:48 am

@@am-tv I’m also confused why it wasn’t even mentioned. It’s everything packed into a stick format, faster than my Roku Ultra, and compatible with all HDR and Audio formats. Are we missing something they aren’t telling us?

  11. @coloniellizardt4191

    December 14, 2024 at 9:46 am

How much is Roku paying you? 😂
Apple TV 4K and Fire TV Cube both craps all over Roku any day of the week. And Onn’s own Google TV streaming box is way better than the Chromecast.

    • @DannerBanks

      December 14, 2024 at 11:56 am

I’ve owned Fire TVs for about 10 years and as much as I love my cibe for being a smart speaker, universal remote, and settop box, the software is terrible. And I’m not talking UI (although I know some people have beef with it). It’s so laggy I have to restart my device every other day. The fandango app doesn’t work. Voice search doesn’t grab movie titles including “(with bonus features)”

  12. @jezza6575

    December 14, 2024 at 9:55 am

Apple TV 4K all the way, but if Roku is built into your tv then it’s livable…google and Amazon got work to do!

  13. @HarveyJackson

    December 14, 2024 at 10:11 am

roku is absolutely paying this man

Not at all, Roku is a fantastic streaming box.

  14. @RiccoAbril

    December 14, 2024 at 11:16 am

Anyone not putting Apple tv as the best streaking device is obviously paid by the competitors. There is no comparison, no glitches like other devices.

    • @DevTipsForYou

      December 14, 2024 at 6:18 pm

      garbage overpriced

  15. @tech489

    December 14, 2024 at 11:43 am

I have 2 and tried the big 3 devices imo the best is the Amazon Fire TV hands down. Side loading and Xbox Games Pass, the Fire TV is a must.

  16. @georgewashington3012

  18. @Belljustin1002

Apple TV 4K doesn’t have any ads. I’m surprised you didn’t mention that.

Extraordinarily underplayed.Definitely comes off as bias against Apple.

    • @polyglotinc

R U kidding?? The entire top of the desktop is ads for AppleTV app (within the AppleTV box)

  20. @michael-4k4000

    Isn’t this kind of a No-brainer?

  21. @savoryexposure

    December 14, 2024 at 1:04 pm

The problem with the Roku devices is that the interface and even the remote is subsidized by ads. So yes it’s cheaper, but it has poor privacy and you’re being pushed to download apps, ads for sports events, prime video etc. Apple TV is a clean, ad free space, with options to ask apps not to track you

  22. @n8iveskin473

    December 14, 2024 at 1:09 pm

Roku is too locked down…I want my apps on my device, and roku dont offer that…

    Roku Ultra (2024) model!!!

  24. @Evan_Adams

    December 14, 2024 at 2:58 pm

That Roku soundbar is not something I had considered. If it’s good for voice, I may have to consider that for my dad. Thank you

  25. @mongo2044

    December 14, 2024 at 4:03 pm

Instead of products sold under cost to make them, and then suffer through ads and years of garbage updates, just get an ad free Apple TV on sale and be an adult with a job. Apple TVs are trouble free and last many years. I still have an ATV 2 which is now still usable for Airplay. Even a ATV HD is updated with latest OS and works great on 1080p sets or 4K sets.

  30. @barrydraper

    December 15, 2024 at 9:48 am

I have the “ROKU 4K Ultra” which was not featured here. Pricier (and better) than the Express, but not as much as the Apple device.

  31. @tiburonroano

    December 15, 2024 at 12:00 pm

I use my Xbox to stream since it doubles as a 4kBluRay player

  32. @BMar1andonly

    December 15, 2024 at 12:28 pm

Apple TV is the best streaming device. The fact you dismiss it shows your lack of knowledge in streamers and probably best to let someone else take the lead on best streamers video in 2025.

  33. @mjalalaldin

    December 15, 2024 at 5:47 pm

NVIDIA Shield TV Pro is the Monster of Streaming Devices

  34. @robdecaire4360

    December 16, 2024 at 8:33 am

Nvidia shield pro better than any Roku product out there. This dude is either paid off by Roku or doesn’t know what he is talking about.

  35. @chrisad1177

The Chromecast 4K and HD have already been delisted at a few major retailers even before Black Friday

Google tv streamer is the best!

  37. @polyglotinc

    December 17, 2024 at 1:12 pm

CNET, you did not cover my main use case…playing content residing on my computer(s) served via MacOS iTunes app and newer AppleTV and Music apps. Which devices other than AppleTV can play library files?

  38. @PaulHo

    December 17, 2024 at 7:34 pm

    Onn 4K suspiciously absent.
