Allyson Felix is pretty awesome…..very first question was specifically about her, but her response was a lot of “we” or “our”. That is pretty humble and gracious on her part.

I’m glad she told the truth about the relay question considering she has been chosen questionably over done others.
Nice video! She deserves her flowers considering she’s near retirement.

So true, I wish the US loved Track & Field like I do! It will be my number #1 sport forever… Man I ran the 400m through college, the pain is real but it makes you a stronger person.

  18. Matthew Schell

    July 21, 2021 at 10:16 pm

In high school I ran 1600m and 3200m because no one else really wanted to. I was 6′, 180-190 lbs. I was like twice the size of most of the people I ran against.

  19. Andrea Samardzija

    July 21, 2021 at 10:32 pm

See, I wanted to know why Sha’Carri Richardson wasn’t on the relay team. I mean I assumed they’d already decided on the relay team beforehand ( a fact confirmed by the article I clicked on to make sure I didn’t misspell her name) but I also wanted to know why she wasn’t on the relay team if she’s so fast and that makes sense.

I just noticed something and now I can’t un-notice it. But the dates on the tweets are all over the place. A lot of them are really old questions, with all the answers done at the same time on 2017? And heck there’s a 2021 question at 8:25 and the response graphic 8:56 again re-uses the 2017 response date.
Of course you can just chalk this up to the graphics team, but it sorta irks me.

Allyson Felix is one of best doesn’t get enough attention

I became track & field fan when I ran in HS. Watching a good 400m runner is something else. Watch runners kick & turn on the jets for last 100m or 200m is wild.
    400m & 200m & 800m are still my favorite races to watch.

I don’t even follow track but still remember how awesome that 2012 relay team was. Carmelita Jeter pointing the baton at the world record time should be a way more famous sports photo than it is.

It has been common for distance runners to cut their weight, because they’re trying to move less mass. But it can lead to eating disorders or dysmorphia, and will reduce stamina if emphasized too much.

I don’t think she has more Olympic medals than Michael Phelps… And I seem to recall the American women relay team dropping the batton in, at least, two major races/events.
I did like her answers do. She’s cool.

    • Cornell Stephenson

      July 24, 2021 at 3:58 pm

What’s your point? This was about track and field not swimming.

    • Ethan Dalton

      July 24, 2021 at 10:09 pm

Michael Phelps took part in far more events at each Olympics than Allsyon Felix does.

“Looking good” while running isn’t something you’re born with or not, form is another thing that takes time to improve. There are little quirks here and there between people’s forms, but you can always make small adjustments over time to use your unique body as efficiently as possible to move.

    July 25, 2021 at 8:32 am

Corporate America is missing a huge opportunity by not using this woman’s accomplishments/beauty/personality as more of a marketing device. They did it with Michael Phelps and he’s way less appealing than Allyson Felix is. I don’t believe they’re being racist – look at what they did with Michael Jordan. It’s not that. But corporate America is missing out. Allyson Felix is so appealing, she has it all.

    • imsobadwithnames

Wtf she is not a product

    • Henry Chang

      July 25, 2021 at 11:23 pm

@imsobadwithnames right, I agree. I’m talking about hiring her to be a spokesperson for a product. She’s pretty special and she’s not really utilized in that way. I think she’d appreciate it, she mentioned something about track and field not making much money.

I don’t think distance runners and sprinters dislike each other… but they just don’t have that much in common. Except for some crossover in the 400/800 the training is totally different and the body types of elite sprinters and distance runners look very different

Will you ever forgive Miller Ubio for denying you the 400m gold through diving .As for me I will never forgive her for that cheating.

    • Chichi Okolo

      July 27, 2021 at 1:08 pm

While I love Allyson, Uibo did not cheat, otherwise she would have been disqualified.

    • Picantoman Montgomery

      July 27, 2021 at 1:25 pm

@Chichi Okolo diving is not good. If you must win then win clean

    • Chichi Okolo

      July 27, 2021 at 1:37 pm

@Picantoman Montgomery again, she wasn’t disqualified, so her move was perfectly legal. Whether you think it’s good or not is besides the point.

Allyson: I don’t think track is under rated, it is under broadcasted. If one follows sports, one would know who Allyson Felix is and she has accomplished, just like one would know who Serena is. You are admired and respected for your amazing career and you are loved as a person and role model.

    • Andrew C.

      August 3, 2021 at 1:40 am

True, Rafael, but so few people to to meets now. In the 60s in the summer in the central valley of California, thermometer reaching 100 and above, fans would fill those stadiums. Now, if you have the money, you can get a great seat because no one else seems to be interested. I mean, look at the stands for these Olympics! Almost empty.

    • Rafael A Lozano

      August 3, 2021 at 1:45 am

@Andrew C. Andrew: no fans or family were allowed during these Olympics because Tokyo is in state of emergency due to COVID.

The opposite of the best track event question answer is definitely the 800m, the longest race that is basically a sprint with only small sections where you aren’t running as fast as you can similar to the 400m.

Is she forreal about track being underrated in the US? I think its very popular in schools and very recognized. I love her but she confused about that one. Maybe it was true before but ever since I’ve been in school track has been very popular sport.
