It probably doesn’t come as too big of a surprise that cowboy boots aren’t typically sold online. So where is the modern cowboy supposed to shop? This week we’re talking to a founder who carved out a DTC market for western wear.  Paul Hedrick, the founder of Tecovas () ,  joins Dom and Becca to discuss the marketing strategy they came up with to change the perception of shopping for cowboy boots online and how the company has expanded to brick and mortar stores.

In this conversation they cover:

• How social media played a big role in the early days of tecovas
• The challenges of modernizing such an old-school industry
• Fundraising when DTC was almost a dirty word.

I’m confused. Cowboy boots have been sold online long before Tecovas came along and isnt Tecovas moving to sell with stores?

But Tecovas filled a need in the space that lacked the cool factor. Plus, they make returns/exchanges super easy. Yes, I’m a fanboy of Tecovas.

@@BobbyCarroll I bought a pair and they were okay but they just raised their prices like $50!?!? In this economy? They’re not worth what you pay, no thank you.

AI is shaping every aspect of our lives — but only a handful of tech giants have a say in what this technology can do. So what’s going on with world governments? Bilawal Sidhu, host of “The TED AI Show,” sits down with geopolitical expert Ian Bremmer to unpack the UN’s just-released plan for “Governing AI for Humanity,” a report that focuses on the urgent need to guide AI towards helping everyone thrive, rather than just the powerful few. Together, they explore the complexities of AI’s rapid growth on a worldwide scale and take a clear-eyed look at the pivotal decisions facing us in the very near future. (Recorded at The TED AI Show on September 10, 2024 )
