@Chronic_Payne Yup. Not a single doctor used that hammer on me in my whole life. I live in Germany. Maybe it’s a ‘everywhere but Germany’ thing. Also possible.

As a doctor, it pains me to see “Dr. Google” commentors question the value of 4 years of study in health sciences, 4 years in medical school, and a minimum of 2, often up to 5, and sometimes 6-7 years of on the job training. Let’s not even get into how much that costed both in real dollars, as well as in opportunity cost dollars.

You’re my idol Dr. Jeong, but I’m not brave enough nor funny enough to attempt what you did to enter the performing arts!

    • BlueKazuki

      November 22, 2023 at 12:57 pm

I think the issue is the difference in information doctors have vs the layperson. Being told you know nothing about your own body and you can’t even try to learn or research because “Google bad” and “you didn’t go to med school” can lead you to question things. You hear stories about how doctors say things are necessary just so they can bill your insurance more. We (laypeople) really don’t know for sure.

      November 22, 2023 at 1:35 pm

One thing that was super important in my accounting school was learning how to explain things in laymen’s terms, it’s not a problem it’s just the reality that not everyone can know everything. But google can atleast give someone a bit of a start

    • Zack

      November 23, 2023 at 12:13 am

I think that’s kind of an unfair statement.
Trust no one, everyone is wrong about everything, a four year degree means nothing, just means an idiot can not fail out of school for a few years.
We should look more towards explaining why things are the way they are. Saying “just trust me” is never the answer, we need to know WHY things are the way we are. A quick fix is never the answer, tell in a patient why they should eat their veggies is always better.

Plus doctors can be wrong, ask any good scientist and they’ll admit it. Always ask for a second opinion, it’ll always add a benefit.
