I just use my iPad as a notability machine for taking notes, reading and highlighting PDFs, and doing math problems.

Bottom end ipad is the only one Iget and I only get it when my existing bottom end ipad dies or is really old. Once you are talking $800 I’m just getting a laptop.

I would never buy Apple products again, took me a whole week to figured out how to move photos and videos from my phone to the computer. On windows is so simple just drags and drops.

Does the air have a higher refresh rate screen like the pro?

    • Samuel Messmore

Sadly only the pro has the higher refresh rate.

If you have the Air 3, like I do, there’s no need to buy the Air 4. I would jump right to the 10.5 iPad Pro if you want something that would be notably different.

This definitely kills the competition and im not an apple guy. But their tablets have always been miles ahead of everyone else’s. But now they nailed the price which is crazy coming from Apple

Question: I use my iPad Pro 11″ primarily as second screen via Duet Display/Sidecar. Does any know if the second screen performance will suffer in with iPad Air due to slightly less memory/lack of ProMotion?

  17. Phelens

    October 21, 2020 at 10:47 pm

I look at things from the point of view of what you get for another $200. 128 vs 64 storage, pro motion 120hz, quad speakers, 6 gig ram vs 4, Lower latency pencil, USB C double as fast on Pro etc etc… Either wait for the next pro version or buy the pro because this imo isn’t worth it.

I agree, I loved my Ipad Air 2019 sooo much. I upgraded to the 12.9 pro though because I wanted a larger screen for drawing.

  23. Ashwin Sethuraman

    October 22, 2020 at 12:21 am

Ipad pro starts at128gb and the price difference between 256gb iPad air and 128gb pro is about $50 so do you buy iPad pro or iPad air?

Not really. I have the base MacBook Air 2020 which was a bit over $1000. My 2019 iPad Air is faster in some tasks than my MacBook Air, including but not limited to video editing.

You can avoid the Magic Keyboard & get the Logitech Folio Touch keyboard case which has more edge protection, different viewing angles with the kickstand, the shortcut function row, a great keyboard with the trackpad, Apple Pencil protection with the flap it has to ensure the Pencil doesn’t pop off the iPad. That one is around $150-160 which is a much better value over the overpriced & limiting Magic Keyboard

  33. Razvan Rogoz

    October 22, 2020 at 8:19 am

You would have to spend money on the keyboard and Apple Pencil, NO MATTER what iPad you buy. Even the base iPad ends up costing a lot once you add the accessories.

Shouldn’t we wait for iPad Pro 2021, so it can have newer A14 chip and fingerprint sensor. I am pretty sure Apple is not going to push 120Hz display in air for couple of years. Otherwise, no difference between Air and Pro.

I got an i pad air 2 and I only use it for gaming plus YouTube and reading books I feel to buy I pad air 4 but some say I should get pro but pro is 20-45% more expensive and I think it’s not worth for me only for 120 hrz refreshments I even feel that I pad air 4 is almost overkill for my use but I will use this device for at least 6 years so i think it’s ok

If it weren’t for impulsive buying America won’t have these Trillion dollar companies that are keeping America afloat. The American government dumps $850 on the military while they ignore the sub 3rd world living conditions in the mainland. They have ignored healthcare, infrastructure and quality of life for decades.

My old iPad Air stopped working about a month ago (It bricked, neither I nor the Genius could revive it), so I have a new Air getting delivered tomorrow. 64 Gig with Cellular data, AppleCare, and a folio (I wanted to get a Magic Keyboard but not at that price). After taxes I paid about $950. No pencil, no keyboard, and the smallest memory size (I figure with the unlimited LTE Plan I’ll be adding to it I can afford to rely on the cloud).

Still, ouch. Especially for an unexpected expense.

  54. Nicolás Martín Cuenca

I don’t know why anyone would choose this over a 2017 ipad pro I paid $625 with taxes, shipping, and a full year of applecare for a 2017 pro best apad ever of you cant afford the straight up $800 for newest model.
