The comments scare me. Contact tracing protects both you and the community at large. It’s been done in many countries successfully. Seems like Americans are the only ones raising objections, which is not surprising considering the climbing death toll.

Good thing we are not waiting around for contact tracing. Nothing learned from SARS or H1N1? Must have been a rich person disease.
At least 2 US governors will require mandatory face mask for all people effective 6/26 and 6/27. Good thing we have nonprofits that are adapting to the challenges of this disease with free masks for homeless and anyone who asks. You can donate less than $1 for a cloth mask as part of an experiment in stopping or invest in expensive contact tracing suited for bloodborne diseases. Phones with proximity sensing ability cost more than masks.

I am concerned about privacy. She know this. She says there are things that can be done to protect privacy. She says there are laws and technology is helpful in protecting privacy.
That’s not convincing for me. I would like a more robust explanation before I consent to sign over my liberty. I am concerned about privacy and stigmatization of infected people. For example (see Military Times reporting) the Army was going to ban people with a COVID diagnosis in their medical record from service then the masses protested on Twitter and they reduced it to reject only people who were hospitalized for Covid, saying that the medical community doesn’t know yet how much damage COVID does to the lungs. This is not evidence based practice, this is fear based practice.

People have the right to say no to care. Therefore, you can never get a complete contact tracing. If it really is care, you will respect the patient’s right to say no. If you don’t respect their no, then it’s not care.
