Fun fact, the ratio of the sides of an A4 sheet of paper (in fact all A* sizes) is 1:√2. Fold a short edge down to a long edge, the hypotenuse (the length of the crease) is same length as a long edge (which can be checked by folding the crease down to the long edge.

Surely there must be some kind of kapton/kevlar/carbon super tape that is microns thin and super strong/sticky – put on with a microscope that would save a few nanograms of weight and be a better “world record” paper airplane….

I started making the first airplanes when I was 7 years old, we called them doves. And for 10 years I saw in a magazine how to make a biplane out of paper. It turned out great. I began to come up with my own options. After then the whole yard was launching airplanes. It was so much fun. Now, 40 years later, I was surprised that people in our computer age continue to build paper airplanes. Now I also use a computer to teach other people how to build model airplanes.

I can never make this kind of plane solely by the fact my hands sweat easily. I’ll make the paper damp when doing creases and ruin the plane.
