For the classic greeks Hope was an evil, that is why it was in Pandora’ box. Hope stoped men to acept their reality and work to change it.

I’ve been heartbroken many times and each time I’ve learned to just let go and move on…when the breakup is at the point of no return, don’t let the false hope eat at you mentally and waste your time

The “breakups” aren’t the problem… I’ve got an unbroken track record of those.

For me, the problem is still always going to be the one that slowly withdrew to try and make me the one to end things.

I’d ask if anything was wrong and get told everything was fine – I was reacting poorly for some reason, seeing things that weren’t there, etc…

And then, after months of that, of my believing what was so clearly in retrospect nothing but lies, I got a “my life is better without you” as an explanation for why “we needed some time apart.”

After being reassured that entire time it left me unwilling to trust my instincts, unwilling to risk myself… Every memory I have now feels like a fraud; I thought we were happy when we visited London, or Paris, or Barcelona… Spent holidays together, spending time with family…

But at some point the lies and pretending started… I still don’t know but how did I miss it? It’s hard to “fix” a problem if I can’t even identify what it was.

Pathetic to feel both betrayed and responsible at the same time… Even worse is the shame I feel to have let that destroy me so thoroughly. All for someone that I’m quite sure hasn’t spared a moment’s thought on me since.

I’m quite sure none of it ever mattered…
    Except to me…

Objection: Despite DSM 5’s (odd) terminology, there’s no such thing as a Broken Heart or Burn Out. For various reasons Psychosomatic Medicine suggests, a lethal Heart Attack may prove an expression of Psychogenic Death, rather than stemming from cardio-vascular overload (Biology/Chemistry Lessons, Grammar School ’82).
