Border Collies and other sheep herding dogs are the easiest to train. Try a terrier.

Yeah that’s the whole point. You wouldn’t train an arabian horse to pull carriages. Every breed was selected for certain tasks.

With terriers you clear communication, without fear, without punishment, without pain, is even more important. It is for every dog important, but terriers love good boundaries, good directions and communication Clear As Day. I love terriers. They teach me so much❤

Oooo so many questions! 😀 Pregnancy related – dogs like females have a period of interest before the waning becomes more important than the fun. Pregnancy after 27 can be dangerous, but dogs usually have up to two years before they get bored of what you tell them. Child baring note: genetically your mind affords the gustation complex via placenta the count of 28 (30.4375) if you have _intelligence._ We have decided as a society that 21 is a good start, 23 is just before the dogs age of 2 count (24) and your mind is left with 4 count, as in the former statement. You need to know how to play cards, and make it count, but I digress. “The mind is a beautiful thing to waste” 😉 🌗🤗

A lot of rescues end up doing agility as often the very reasons they get surrendered are the very reasons agility provides them an outlet & enrichment… Westminster & Crufts are showcases for the pure breeds & happen to include Agility as a competition & public display… but club & competition Agility is held throughout the competition season for anyone who wants to be involved in the sport, as a hobby to a full time profession. Any dog that is physically sound to be suitable for the demands of agility, can be trained to do the sport. Well worth a suggestion to anyone considering rescues as their ownership preference.

This was so good. Your lovely assistant is gorgeous – so alert and attentive. We don’t do agility as my dog had a broken knee as a puppy. But the challenges of inter-species communication can be kind of similar in trick training or canine freestyle dancing. As someone who does a fair bit of team-building work with non profits, I loved the way you drew out the application to communication within teams too.

It was a great TED talk about communication! I enjoyed it! I have a border collie, and we did agility a bit. He knew what he was supposed to do…. But my communication skills weren’t great 😂 and he got so confused…..

Thank you for that. I have always treated animals as individuals according to thier kind. In other words, a dog is a dog, a cat is a cat and a horse is a horse. And until you learn their individual languages thats all they ever will be, an animal. But learn their language and they become your best mate

As someone who completes in agility with my Border Collie, it’s soooooo much harder than it looks on TV. That being said, I strongly encourage everyone to at least try it because it’s so rewarding for you and your dog.
She’s 100% correct how important communication is in the sport. Agility will revolutionize your communication and relationship with your dog
