In conversation with TED business curator Corey Hajim, he explores the immense possibility behind private-public partnerships —…

Business is just for profit , nothing else . Neither care about nature nor human . Business teach empathy but never follow it in real life .

For centuries wealthy Indian patrons (usually women) – in conjunction with local gov & residents – helped build magnificent stepwells, providing the community & many travellers with access to shade, a place to rest during the heat of the day and fresh water. So yes it’s possible, just unlikely.
Nowadays if I hear about big donations to various organisations I think corruption before I think altruism. For example, big oil funding universities etc. They don’t do this because they are altruistic.
Thamassat University in Thailand built the largest green roof in Asia. Not only does the produce grown help feed its students, surrounding communities benefit too. Now THAT is true community development! Every corporate building should have a green roof with produce being distributed for school feeding schemes (kids can’t learn if they are hungry) and vulnerable communities for upliftment.
In rural Thailand schools are community centres for child & adult education where parents can volunteer in the community garden in lieu of school fees.
In Tirana (Albania) parents plany trees around their city on their child(s) birthday. Imagine if some of those trees were fruit trees etc?!
Building a society for the future that leaves no-one behind requires collaboration between gov, business, civil society and residents. We cannot do it alone; expecting gov to do everything will take too long; working together is the only way forward to a brighter future for all.

Not one applause for the facility with the recorded most births in Peru.
The attendees are thinking “More people! This is not good for climate change. Bill Gates is not going to be pleased with this.”
It is great to hear about the works of people doing good in this world.

It is not the responsibility of business to be a solution for social problems. Business exists for one reason and only one reason. To make money. This video is better suited for Cuba, China, or North Korea.

Lol, businesses are inherently Evil. The only purpose a business has is to make money. And the only thing keeping them in check are enforced regulations.

Business creates more social problems than it solves. Aren’t all of these wars based on business? Lol
Home Wall
October 6, 2023 at 4:11 pm
No, 100% of the wars are from governments. You never see a corporation attack another. That’s what governments do for some businesses when they are fascist, which is pretty much all so-called free countries today.

Wow. Can you imagine what the potential could be for a country like the USA?
If we could starting making schooling accessible to more children instead of just that privileged 34%?
If the rich would make up for the government’s slack instead of lobbying to make things progressively worse?
If the american people had the smarts to stand up for themselves the way those brave peruvian rebels are taking on those riot-cop traitors in the street?
Just think of the paradise we could turn this shithole country into if people with sensibility and intelligence were ever involved in decision making.

Business can best help solve social problems by going out of business. Business (apart from some worker co-operatives and the like) is purely in the business of extracting wealth from the working class and giving it to the capitalist class. Once upon a time business may have had some community responsibility, but not since the 1980’s at the very latest.

LOL, so you’d prefer to jobs or taxes, just government force and submission and obedience to work in your government job, live in your government home, eat government food, learn from government teachers, and get care in government hospitals.

The greater the automated income you can build, the freer you will become. Taking the first step is the hardest, but 5 houses later living off automated income since July 6, 2016. You’ve got to start taking steps to achieve your goal.

Everything you have that’s of value was created by businesses, including the jobs most others depend on, and the money government extorts to rule over you.

This make sense. If social issues are solved in a manner where the one solving the problem is able to generate a ROI, then provate players will jump on the opportunity. Moreover, with their efficiemcied and cost effective operations, they will be able to solve these problems at lower costs as well.

‘Make someday today’… It’s very impressive. As a Korean, I guess the most serious problem of our country is low-birth rate. Koreans are getting disappeared. According to the latest announcement from the statistical office, Korean birth rate per women is 0.84. We don’t have even a birth per one woman. And the government noticed how serious it is. They has expanded various policies to boost the birth rate, but as you know it doesn’t work to stop to go on a down trend. Honestly to say, I don’t expect that the government can find out the way to boost the birth rate dramatically. I guess I should get involved in this issue as a individual, not just expecting the government to get this done.
Thanks for this video. I could put a sense of urgency.
