I wonder why it “didn’t gain the traction with users expected”… hmmmmmmmm, maybe because everyone else expected Google to shut it down soon, so no one got invested ????????????

    • ColtsFan4Life 35

      September 29, 2022 at 8:45 pm

Exactly. Cloud gaming just isn’t feasible as of now and I don’t think it’ll ever be. The infrastructure isn’t there for this tech. So many people don’t even have basic internet. But these companies keep shoving cloud gaming tech on us.????????

      September 29, 2022 at 9:42 pm

      @ColtsFan4Life 35 That’s not it.

Google has a track record of shutting down services/apps that don’t meet it’s success meter.

It was immediate Stadia wasn’t going to last after Google shutdown most studios after purchasing them less than a year.

    September 29, 2022 at 8:13 pm

Stadia never really made any sense you pay a monthly fee then still have to buy the actual games to stream compared to xbox were you get over 300 games a lot of the day one releases for a monthly fee

    • Kyle Klmondwa

      September 30, 2022 at 3:41 am

Even ONLIVE went bankrupt and they were BETTER than Stadia. It seems like the Pricing of the service just isn’t there.

  14. Gero141

    “they expected”

    HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Tone-deaf companies crack me up. Stadia’s demise was set in stone since day 1. ????????????

Shocked this didn’t happen weeks after launch. Google has a poor track record supporting some of their products

    • Kyle Klmondwa

      September 30, 2022 at 3:36 am

LOL instead of cutting their losses early they bled money like a pig until now…The Geniuses at Google sure deserve those big pay checks!!!

Is there a comparable service? I think stadia was the most advanced one and the cheapest too.

      September 29, 2022 at 10:03 pm

Nvidia GeForce now is more powerful than stadia

    • kevin

      September 30, 2022 at 2:49 am

@Jonathan S even then geforce now sucks too, i subscribe for 1 month and regret it, just buy a powerful pc if you want to play, remote play is only playable for single player game, meanwhile i play fps

Just stay in search, mail, drive, and YouTube, clearly that’s about all Google can do for any real amount of time. This is the final proof (if anyone really needed it) that you can’t invest in anything like this with Google.

  21. David Duarte

    September 29, 2022 at 10:57 pm

See that’s why you need to buy physical disc games.

    Google always give up.

  28. Mannnisp

    September 30, 2022 at 7:52 am

I will miss it. To play anytime anywhere was great and it really worked. But yes it has to make payoff as well, but to be clear I think cloud gaming still needs a long time in general to be profitable.

    • Stadia Hrovat

      October 1, 2022 at 12:00 pm

Me too. I love stadia and I play it almoast every day.

Google Glass with Augmented Reality could’ve been amazing. If it were reality and was paired with Pokemon Go then that would’ve been something

Wow Google canceled another service, while this one probably had it coming it’s unsurprising people don’t have confidence in new Google products since they seem to get canceled every 2-3 years.

Nintendo: well crap what are gonna do now

  34. Air King

    October 1, 2022 at 1:55 am

Could have got more traction if they didn’t have a monthly fee then required you to purchase the better games . Also should have added stadia to as many smart tvs operating systems not just android TV’s

    • murcielago Batman

      October 2, 2022 at 1:47 pm

  38. murcielago Batman

    October 2, 2022 at 1:43 pm

What hurt them is they game price and requirements highspeed internet.

Maybe if they switch to a subscription model similar to Xbox and offering large amount of game

Maybe they come back like moviepass

  39. The Gadget Guru

It is definitely a sad day for stadia makes me sad as well ☹️
