The people who have the power to do something about this don’t care, don’t want to lose any money, and most will be dead before the consequences really start to affect them in any meaningful way.

if it rains, put a raincoat on. If it’s hot, put a fan on. It’s the coldest winter on record where I live, so I put the heating on more, or I could believe you and freeze to death.

I don’t disagree with you, the question is just how many have to die this time.

    • @martijn8537

      January 15, 2025 at 5:07 pm

That is true, the only difference here is that all those events before were natural. This one is humanmade and the temperatures are rising faster than they should do naturally. It shouldn’t even be rising at all but cooling down some scientists and professors say. So we can’t compare this to the previous events and if we do: you’ll see that this one is more extreme in it’s absolute temperature change and the speed

    • @davidfischer5859

      January 16, 2025 at 12:51 pm

Human beings were not alive during those changes.

    • @bellkatie9527

      January 16, 2025 at 1:00 pm

@davidfischer5859  well the last ice time Ende just 11 000 jears ago.
And i don’t only talk about humans.
A the Dinos got extinct because a Meteor changed the climat rapidly.
And even if the changed aren’t as extrem and fast as back than it will probably not be pleasent for at least a few billion people

    • @martijn8537

      January 16, 2025 at 1:19 pm

@@bellkatie9527 I’d like to expand on your latest comment. The Cretaceous-Paleogene extinction was indeed very extreme in it’s temperature change. But the possible scenario’s we could be heading towards could be seen as equally extreme if several critical points are reached, many crucial systems on our planet can stop. We could see desertification, a freezing Europe or Mediterranean Europe depending on which system will be stronger and a faster than usual searise level. It is fair to assume that not several billion people will be affected by this but we all will. You can find monthly if not weekly examples of this with extreme storms, increased famines, climate change refugees and even climate deaths. So the possible future may be regarded as extreme as the previous mass extinctions (some scientist say we are already in another mass extinction with the rate at which we’re losing species) it will just look different. No asteroids, no massive volcanoes, no plate tectonics that have a major impact but just tonnes of invisible gases.
I won’t say there’s no hope left but it can become very extreme if we don’t act fast. The planet will survive as it has done multiple times but will we? Probably a lot of animals (including humans) will and have died before something is truly done

      January 15, 2025 at 5:09 pm

Funny thing is that they can fix it. They have and are designing the solutions. The people in power and the global mindset has to be willing to change. As is said in the short: we have the solutions, we just have to implement them

    • @hammerstrumm

      January 17, 2025 at 2:41 pm

@@martijn8537 nope. then they want us to pay for it. let them figure it out. I wont do a thing. I am done with the entire lot of them.

    • @martijn8537

      January 17, 2025 at 6:12 pm

@@hammerstrumm yes we’ll have to pay for an electric car, solar panels, geothermic heating etc. It is just like you would buy a that runs on fossil fuels, radiators and gas or oil to heat the water in your house. It are the same expenses only in a different form. The prices can be substantially higher but with scientists keep on improving these technologies and they’re becoming cheaper with the years. Depending on the country a solar polar has become cost neutral after 5 to 20 years of running. All this can be even cheaper if the governments pay subsidies and tax the polluting industries accordingly.
It’s also important to address the long-term benefits. Investing heavily now will save billions/trillions of damages in the future. These varies costs have also been speculated so you can look them up. The damages of climate change are costing millions to billions now already. Every year. So yes it will cost money, will it cost more? No it will be much cheaper in the long-term (steering away from damages, sustainable technology’s that become cheaper after a certain time of usage like electric cars or solar panels) and in the short-term with the right policies

    • @martijn8537

      January 15, 2025 at 5:05 pm

If we continue with our current economy (a.k.a. capitalism) then yes. It’s built in to the system that people or regions have to be abused. One of the fundamentals in capitalism is that there are winners and losers hence we need another economic model. Only when we shift from capitalism to our coordinated circular economy will we be able to soften climate change and help everyone in a sustainable way

When do you tell people that the magnetic poles are shifting which will bring about a whole new weather pattern since the ice caps and polar vortex will be shifting with the magnetic poles. More regulations and carbon taxes are more about control than the cause of the weather patterns, I’m willing to bet that weather engineering has a more detrimental effect of the climate than Co2

    We are SCREWED.

  21. @martijn8537

    January 15, 2025 at 5:22 pm

It’s still sad to see how many people in the world and in the comment section don’t take this seriously or as serious as it should. This has been going on from the end of the last century and scientist have rang the alarm bell since then. It’s the big oil and certain governments that keep denying it and spreading misinformation. This is no conspiracy it is proven as there recently is an article released about big oil’s coverup. Three other misconceptions:
we have the means to solve it, it just needs to be implemented and that can happen in a sustainable way both for nature, your wallet and human rights. We only need a change in economics and in our mindset (especially the politicians).
78% of humandmade emissions comes from or can be distilled to fossil fuels. Steering away from fossil fuels will have a significant impact! We don’t even have to trade our luxury for it as we have the means to compensate what we lose by throwing away fossil fuels.
Last but not least: this is not like any hot or cold periods before that the earth has known. This is humanmade while the other ones were natural. Temperatures are rising much faster while they shouldnt be rising at all. Some scientist and professors say that we actually are in a period of cooling down (if not for climate change). If you do want to compare this crisis with the previous natural events you’ll see two things: the absolute temperature change is bigger than before and the speed is uncontested.

For anyone wondering about the validity of this information: I’ve just got my teacher’s degree in geography & biology and I’m continuing to improve my degree by stidying geography at the university. I’ve also watched several documentaries and read a book about climate change and what we can do about it aswell as teach about it or have been teached about it. I’m not saying that I know all about it, but I do know the essentials which can be summed up by my statement above

The problem is that most people do not want to stop driving their cars, consuming endless products, flying everywhere, etc. I use public transport, and I see endless numbers of cars EVERYWHERE, traffic-jams all the time! There are more than 1 BILLION CARS in the World! And that’s just cars. So many people are just lazy, and want to get into their own car rather than making the effort to use public transport. The fact that everyone keeps blaming government, politicians for the climate crisis because they don’t want to face the fact that they themselves are to blame for climate change. After all they only vote into government those politicians who will not interrupt their comfortable, lazy, endlessly consuming way of living that is causing the climate crisis!

The comments reflect people understand what’s happening, understand what causes global warming better than so called climatologists. How to fix climate change. 1) Do an actual study on the effects of desalinators in the desert, brine, irrigating the desert the impacts on global weather 2) Admit you manipulate weather, denial discredits everything you say. Actual data on how weather manipulation changes typical weather patterns and the effects on other area weather. 3) admit most solar technologies have proven ineffective, expensive, and sometimes more dangerous to public health and the environment. 4) Admit starting all those forest fires for data centers polluted the world more than cars ever could. 5) Admit the trees shielded us from pollution smog that will no doubt be our future thanks to you while China plants trees. 6) Admit your yachts and seaside luxury hotels, bars and party havens destroy marine life, 7) Admit you are paid millions in tax dollars and will say anything they want while we suffer the consequences of what you think is just a good snake oil job with great benefits. Thank you for destroying Mother Earth don’t cry when karma bites your behind.
