    “Life during Wartime” got extensive FM radio airplay in Chicago circa 1977. That’s how I discovered Talking Heads. My god what an oeuvre he has. They don’t make ’em like that anymore.

    The best way to find growth stocks, key features to keep in mind is as follows: 1. Ensure gross margins are greater than 50% 2. Ensure P/E ratio is less than 100 3. Buy companies that are PROFITABLE, very important irrespective of sector. 4. Debt to equity ratio is less than 30% 5. Current ratio is above I 6. and a Float under 100 million One stock that fits the bill is FLGT (Fulgent)

    • Jeffrey Slotnikoff

      @GorgeousRoddyChrome Look it up for yourself… but, since I was personally around at the time (I’m 66), and I still retain some memories of that period in time, I’m pretty confident that the facts and the truth are brother and sister in this instance.

      February 21, 2022 at 7:17 pm

      @Jeffrey Slotnikoff
      My comment was a tongue-in-cheek joke. Hence, the lyrics quote.
      I was around then too. Wonderful times. Saw them live before the “big band” days with just the 4 of them.
      Cheers!

    • Jeffrey Slotnikoff

      February 21, 2022 at 7:38 pm

      @GorgeousRoddyChrome Didn’t get the lyrics quote because, and I confess this with a bit of red in my face, I was not that big of a Talking Heads fan. I had a couple of their albums, but my any other familiarity with their music was through FM radio.. way, way, way back when.

    Is David Byrne college educated and holds several degrees? that’s what I heard. probably my favorite song is “Wild Wild Life” followed by “Burning Down the house” and there are so many more. I remember the big suit it had really big shoulders. and it made the optical illusion that his head looked small. The Talking Heads were brilliant no doubt.

    I grew up really loving blues and gospel, which of course led me to rock n roll (awww snap) and really wasn’t that much into pop,mainly because I guess rock, r&b, and soul seemed more “authentic” to me as a young man, whatever that means..when I saw “stop making sense” and started really listening to talking heads, I was absolutely BLOWN AWAY by the originality and the coolness of someone so unafraid of their…awkwardness? idk what…just unafraid to be themselves…so cool..such a huge DB fan, talking heads and solo. This reminds me of the record Stop Making Sense. The back cover (or possibly the inner sleeve, I am not certain) had a list of frequently-asked questions, with no answers given. I liked the originality of presenting the familiar Q&A format stripped of the As. The questions were left floating. But I also like this more normal version of a Q&A which does have answers. But since this Autocomplete Interview is part of a WIRED series, the producers probably were not even thinking about this being a kind of echo of that album cover.
