Contact Tracing Data Needs to Be Protected, Says Cambridge Analytica Whistleblower

Jun.09 — Brittany Kaiser, founder of the Own Your Data Foundation, and whistleblower in the Cambridge Analytica-Facebook scandal, says more needs to be done to protect people who use contact tracing apps.     Contact tracing data contains medical & PII information. Needs to be protected; not sold to 3rd parties.

    Your guest doesn’t actually seem to know anything about the API that Google and Apple are working on. And saying that Apple has bad history with respect to privacy seems misinformed. Please use knowledgeable guests who are experts in the field of discussion. Good journalism requires more facts and fewer opinions. There’s also a big difference between an API with a very limited utility and an App that implements that API written by a software developer, that may have any number of additional features within the app at their discretion. It might be good to bring in someone from the team working on the API and then asking the tough questions, such as “what would you say to all the people who are concerned about…”.
