Bravo!!! I wsh everyone could watch this, especially the parts about vaccines and Acetaminophen. As a former RN, I’ve seen too many people hurt their livers with Acetaminophen because they thought that since it’s sold over the counter they could take it like candy. Ounce of prevention…

Acetaminophen long term use, what are the issues? I take 1300mg to sleep for arthritis pain. I have issues with NSAIDs. Some sources say it’s a problem some say not. I haven’t damaged my liver so far. UHC has inscrutably refused to cover any pain medications prescribed, numerous times, by my GP. And has repeatedly claimed no records of any contact by me, my GP and both at the GP’s office. I am not seeking drugs for recreation, but for pain which disrupts sleep. I have been prescribed drugs for a number of injuries and kidney stones, including oxycodone. I never finish the pain medications. I discontinue and discard after the pain subsides.

pharmacists really aren’t checking all those things she listed around 11:20. most rx systems check that automatically. The pharmacist is actually there simply because they are legally required to run a pharmacy.

I’ve taken melatonin every night for sleep since I was in elementary school. Never produced enough of it on my own (and my brain doesn’t know when to wind down because I have ADHD), and that lead to a lack of sleep and me being very crabby. I hope I’m not slowly dying.

My husband was prescribed a drug by a locum doctor who hadn’t seen him before. It was our fantastic pharmacist that knew it was contra-indicated for taking with a medication that he was already prescribed. It could have had very serious consequences. She didn’t dispense it and rang the doctor and suggested a safe alternative. Pharmacists are fantastic.

so the thing with melatonin ‘dependency’ is funny, because it’s counterintuitive but obvious at the same time. the body doesn’t gain any dependency or resistance to melatonin biologically, instead it’s almost all psychology. if you find yourself taking melatonin all the time and not falling asleep, it’s because you’re literally training your brain to ignore that sleepy signal. you take it and then what do you do? lie around on your phone until you’re too exhausted to continue? and what if you don’t have it, do you just stay awake doing other things besides quietly laying in bed? all the times that your brain gets the tired signal only for you to proceed to ignore it get learned, and eventually your brain just ignores the signal because obviously it doesn’t change your behavior.

Supply problems with ADHD medications are most likely due to increased demand. With Covid lockdowns, a LOT of ADHDers suddenly lost all of their coping mechanisms, leading to a spike in both the number of adults being diagnosed with ADHD, and previously diagnosed adults that had not previously been taking medication choosing to start.

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. VIRUS, NOT INFECTION. Look up the difference between a virus and a bacterial infection. You need viral medication for a virus. Medication for an infection is NOT going to take care of a virus.

February 21, 2025 at 3:54 pm
Liquid dosage cup question: liquid meds always say only use the supplied dosing cup. My assumption is each dosing cup is different and a teaspoon or milliliter marking isn’t actually a real teaspoon or ml. The cup is simply marked so the actual dose is easily measured by hitting a certain ml mark vs being 5.7 ml it is just marked 5ml. Never compared a dosing cup vs an actual measurement to see but seems likely.

This woman is lovely.
But when she says pharmaceutical companies spend millions of dollars on research, there is some missing context.
Pharmaceutical companies are given countless millions in tax dollars through grants and subsidies that allow them to perform their trials and research.
And what do we get in return for donating our hard earned tax dollars to this industry?
Exorbitant prices that pad their earth-shattering record profits that put a tremendous burden on the average citizen.
The pharmaceutical industry is one of the most corrupt in human history.

The Department of Defense did a study on expired medications. They had a lot lying around and wanted to know which were safe to use past their expiration date. Ozempic makes you lose weight because you throw up, have diarrhea and stop eating because you’re so nauseous. If you’re not taking it for a pre-diagnosed medical disorder, it is just an extreme tool in the eating disorder tool belt. One of the most interesting medical videos I’ve watched, unlike many, I actually watched the entire thing. Would like to seek more. Good job to the pharmacist.

Pharmacists deserve more recognition! As an assistant, we constantly have people yelling, pointing, and making derogatory remarks. People need to learn more about the process of their medication and also realize just how many prescriptions are being filled every single day.

Are you being unnecessarily judgemental because someone was fat, lost weight, and now has lose skin? Whatever happened to them, you should be glad that they lost the weight and are trying to be healthier.

as a second year pharmd student, these comments have restored my faith in the general public🫶 it can be so disheartening when people, older generations especially, just assume pharmacy is an easy job that doesn’t require a TON of clinical knowledge. Made me really happy to see how many people see the importance of the profession ❤

Some of the answers contradict. She said at the beginning that pharmacists check to make sure that what is prescribed matches the condition. But later in the video she said she started talking to a patient about the incorrect condition.

Dr. Madison, as a pharmacist within a healthcare system, myself. “Clinical pharmacist” is redundant because all pharmacists use clinical judgement and knowledge/training regardless of practice setting. Just FYI to non-healthcare folks. Your community pharmacist has the same degree as a pharmacist in a hospital setting and thus has the same foundational education to be able to know which medications can’t be used together, etc.
@Themis33
March 2, 2025 at 6:45 pm
No drugs don’t go out of date. Pharma need you to think they do so they keep making money. The best before are based on potency, but it’s all fabricated. Money money money

15:49 “What mistakes have you made” I think would be a great question for ALL of these professionals. It feels a lot more inspiring knowing they’re a little more down to earth and didn’t come out of the womb practicing their profession.
