I’m appreciating the new CNET videos way more than the old ones with the old presenters.

@Tristen Hernandez I wasn’t refering to their age but I guess the english language is a little too difficult for some people.

One of the most important things to figure out before shelling out on a top tier mattress is whether or not that’s actually the answer to your sleep problems. I’ve been struggling with sleep for years and thought that the Purple mattress would be the answer to finally getting a good nights sleep. A couple grand and a few years later, it’s just a mattress that doesn’t improve my sleep at all. Sometimes your sleep issues are due to medical problems, not your mattress. Turns out it doesn’t matter what I sleep on, my body just sucks at sleeping at the neurological level.

      December 26, 2021 at 4:55 am

I am in the same boat. Have you found a solution?

    • Richard Spellman

      December 26, 2021 at 12:59 pm

@Ahmed Jawed No but at least I get to collect disability for it. My issue is that my REM sleep is too short and too shallow. For every 8 hours of sleep I get about 2 hours of genuine rest, but it’s broken up into very short seconds-long periods that don’t lead to a productive rested state. It’s one of those things that medical science hasn’t figured out yet apparently.

I ordered the original pillow and it was awful.. the ads look so good on it but the material doesn’t feel the way you would think. I have laid on all the purple mattress but have not slept on them. I would not recommend though..

Great info, thanks so much. What about your old mattress? Do they pick it up? Do you have to get rid of it? One of the top questions for me.

    December 24, 2021 at 8:32 pm

what no mention on how most reviews are bought and stores make it impossible for you to compare mattress/brands? or how most mattresses are a huge scam?

I’ve had the same floatation mattress for almost 40 years. NOTHING is as comfortable, adjustable, or as good a value… In fact, everyone who has slept on it wants one, & many have actually switched. And yet, it was ignored completely in this ‘report’.

    • Nezello

      December 27, 2021 at 9:26 am

Floatation mattress, what brand, model, etc.?

    • Poppy Love

Why would one like firmness though? Interesting.

  27. Richard Wagner

    December 28, 2021 at 5:52 am

If you have a bad back like I do avoid memory foam. It lasts 2 1/2 to 3 years and then it gets lumpy and causes severe back pain. I spent $5000 for the top of the line Beauty Rest and had to get rid of it after 3 yr. Got a sleep number to replace it and couldn’t be happier. My sleep number is 95. My back is very sensitive. And it won’t degrade like a regular mattress over time. If your back changes you just change the firmness. Bonus, get the cheapest model to avoid the memory foam they add to higher priced models.

  28. SeekoGT

    December 28, 2021 at 8:01 am

This is right on time. Shopping for a new mattress right now, but I did notice that it looks like you’ve tested mainly online brands? What about the traditional brands? The review seems very bias.

  29. Zac d

    December 30, 2021 at 12:06 am

We have the nectar premier it’s been about 100 days. Sleeps hot with the mattress protector but ok without it. Mattress is medium soft I would say ( I had slept on a 3” memory foam pad for a couple years and it’s definitely not as soft as that. It’s a good mattress overall.

How can anyone buy a mattress online without laying on it (them) in a store? I must be old school. Certain things don’t compute without brick & mortar …
