Don’t bite too hard on this Apple. These rates can be changed at any time. Happened at my credit union.

I only learned about high yield savings after this announcement and I’m PISSED I didn’t sooner. I’ve lost so much to inflation and this would have helped so much

Also the security implications of this is pretty high. Loosing everything because someone gets hacked.

Been using Apple Pay since launch, it is convenient and I like its added security but it’s still not the be all end all. The amount that they charge to other credit card companies to use their system is concerning given that the costs usually just trickle down to us the consumer. I will continue to both my physical cards and apple wallet. I have better rewards on my non-apple cards as well as better APY on my high-yield savings account… not to mention more financial tools/accounts. One thing that I did find impressive in this piece though is the way that apple is doing their “pay later” program. Not including fees or interest is revolutionary but also concerning given that suddenly it will be an even more tempting offer for people to continually buy things they can’t actually afford.. perpetuating the cycle of debt. Scary times headed our way with consumer debt being so high, inflation high, and buy now pay later schemes running amok.

Google and Apple need to crack down on sit-down restaurants that are STILL taking our cards away to process our payments. Visa and Mastercard clearly won’t do anything about it, nor will the federal government. Give restaurants that use these antiquated payment process decreased visibility in Maps and Search.

I’m 50/50 on the Apple Wallet/Apple Pay idea. I often like the feel of my physical cards better and as a force of habit I still default to my credit cards. I’ll use Apple Pay if I remember to or I need a specific card that I don’t carry every day but for the most part I like using the physical cards, especially the metal ones 😅

Just a fyi for others I took my money from my regular bank savings, and transferred it to the apple savings on launch day… then noticed they give you a routing and account number to SPEND FROM THAT SAVINGS account , I got hit, with a insufficient funds when I used that same to pay the same Apple Card balance… you have to dig 3 screens deep to see that YOUR FUNDS YOU MOVED, THAT THEY SHOW INSTANTLY ON MAIN APPLE CARD PAGE, ARE NOT AVAILABLE. LOOKS LIKE aLMOST 10 days you will not have use of YOUR FUNDS YOU TRANSFERRED…… YET THEY PULLED THEM FROM YOUR OTHER BANK ACCOUNT… be careful, don’t get caught short!!

Absolutely not! Apple offering an uninsured savings account is like Burger King offering car insurance. Apple makes phones and distributes music. That’s it. It’s not a financial institution.

I remember when tmo did this only to then change the tier and having everyone spend to then qualify. Personally prefer a CD or a bank I can readily pull my money out from vs paying a fee. This is probably going to be shortlived to capture fee from the losses Goldman has to cover the debt other Apple card owners got them too

I use Apple Pay exclusively. I’ve had an Apple Card from the beginning. I haven’t had to use a physical credit card for years. I also don’t carry cash. My physical wallet on my iPhone holds my license, Apple Card and my medical insurance cards. That’s it. Life is so much simpler. If my state eventually allows the license in Apple Wallet, all the better.

I found in Australia, you can only add 1 card from one bank. This means I can’t have both my saving card and my credit card with rewards from the same bank added to my wallet. This is not officially documented by either the bank or Apple. Only came to this finding after spending an hour in an Apple Store trying to fix the issue and eventually arrived at this conclusion through trial and error as I could add my friends card from a different bank to my Apple wallet as a second card.

Home Depot doesn’t have Apple Pay either. They did in the beginning, but then they switched out of it. I still have to carry my card! Also, when I use the Apple Pay button on eBay, I do not get my 2% cashback from Apple. It’s only 1 %.

I signed up soon as Apple Card was available back in 2019 and been using it as my default payment method. I bank with bank that supports Apple Pay so I can directly pay my card in Apple wallet. Looking forward to using Apple Savings updating my phone now. One of the features that stands out to me is that my wife and I are both linked to shared account we have one payment account and we can see how each other spends in one easy to app. Thanks for posting this video always enjoy your videos.

So sick of Walmart holding out. Was at the store recently without my physical wallet, drove all the way to the store and had forgotten it, needless to say I realized the error while checking out. I’ve been using Apple Pay since the beginning. I love it. I use it just about everywhere. And I am most likely to revisit a place that accepts Apple Pay. Also, I live in Colorado, recently got my Apple Wallet Colorado Driver’s License. I’ve only been able to use it once for identification at TSA, and that was my return flight from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport to Denver International Airport.

I will say that many times around the city of Colorado Springs, I can use my iPhone as only my wallet. I typically go to shopping and out to eat by just carrying my iPhone.

I think would bank with Apple, if that comes to fruition.

I have been using Apple Pay since day 1. I hardly carry my wallet except when an ID is needed. Majority of the stores I shop at use Apple Pay. It’s perfect for me. Apple will make plenty of cash on the credit card. good play by Apple & Goldman. I think folks are far more likely to trust Apple (who have giant mountains of cash) than they are a large number of banks who are buried in a volatile banking landscape.

It’s interesting how Apple Pay is not as widespread in the US. I live in Costa Rica and often go to Colombia (I was born there) and ever since Apple Pay was adopted by local banks you can pay with Apple Pay literally anywhere that accepts contactless payments. Which I’d say more than 90% of merchants accept contactless payments. I guess we are not that behind in new technologies

In the UK, use of Apple Pay among iPhone owners is almost completely ubiquitous. Never seen an issue with adding one of my cards – debit, credit and store loyalty. You can use them everywhere without an issue so adoption and ease of use is much better than the USA where the payments infrastructure is fragmented. I never cards. Ever! Banks here would never think about trying to compete with Apple Pay because they know they have zero chance of success. Apple has a lot of opportunity to expand its financial service offerings outside the USA and it should, coz they’d have far fewer impediments

Apple credit card is ok. It’s weak on the non Apple Pay, or Apple Store rewards. I got a Wells Fargo Active cash card that gives me 2% cash back on every purchase. That includes places that does not accept Apple Pay.

I also got Ally Bank and Lending Club high interest savings accounts and getting 4% interest.

It’s insane how much money in interest people can get.

I may get an Apple Card later though as a secondary card. It’s good to increase the Credit limit one can have as long as you are capable of not buying stuff you can’t pay back in the next statement. The increased credit limit is actually a positive for credit score when you consistently pay off the cards on time every month.

No no no, I went with android and got my freedom switching phone brands the way I like. I’m living my freedom not tying myself with a payment method. As a Canadian it’s less fragmented… I can go pretty much anywhere and not need a physical card in the city. Since none of my transactions are in cash the only reason I still carry my wallet is for my id and my transit card.

Apple Pay needs to be better at drive through restaurants. Many accept it, but employees don’t have it ready, and have to grab a scanner and stretch out toward your car, then you stretch your phone or wrist out… It’s awkward, and in some cases they just want you to hand over your phone because it won’t reach.

Once that’s fixed, and Kroger accepts it, I’ll stop needing a physical card for any regular use case.

I worked at CVS for 10 years. My last year was the first year Apple Pay came out. It didn’t make sense to me that we took google wallet for the time being but when Apple Pay started they wouldn’t take it. I know they were going to do something else, I forget what it was going to be called, but it failed miserably.

Have used Apple Pay since the beginning, and not have closed my Wells Fargo accounts and moved all cash from Schwab into Apple Savings. I also use Robinhood’s cash sweep since it beats Apple Savings by a bit at 4.40%, but these are now my main two places to earn interest. IMHO, the big banks have much to worry about. At least for me, they no longer offer anything interesting.

Apple savings limits the amount of a transfer to $20k over a 7 day period. So if you needed funds to make a large purchase or put down a large down payment, it could present a problem. “Apple Cash is provided by Green Dot Bank, Member FDIC. Transfers to Apple Cash must be at least $1.00 and can be no more than $10,000. You may transfer no more than $20,000 per rolling 7-day period. Additional limits on the amount and frequency of transfers may be placed for the security of your Savings account.”

I’ve had the Apple Card since it was available for me which I believe was August 2019. The main thing I use it for is to get 3% cash back on Apple purchases like my Apple Music and in app purchases. When I got my iPhone 13 I used the card and got the 0% interest 24 month financing and got 3% back on that which was really nice. I also have the physical titanium card because who doesn’t want a titanium credit card, but I hardly ever use it because you only get 1% with the physical card. If it gave you say 2% like the Citi Double Cash card or higher it would be my new default card and I would use it all the time. You can get 2% with Apple Pay, but there are still very few places I go to that have Apple Pay. The main places I go are grocery stores and restaurants and I already have cards that give me more than 2% anyway. It would be great if they had more retailers for the 3% categories also because I don’t go to any of those places.

Been using the card since launch and I love it. The ease and increasingly widespread acceptance is fantastic. I just opened the Apple Savings account without a hitch. My favorite feature of the actual physical card is its lack of account information which gives me a worry free experience when someone takes my card in the back to swipe it and they can’t “swipe” my account information. That’s especially true when traveling abroad. Anytime the card is swiped I get a notice literally within seconds (and before leaving) so I know right away what’s being charged. And yes, I am an unapologetic Apple fan boy.
