Twice as good as it was but half as good as it could be. Pay the extra & get the Show 8.

My only issue with any echo is, the Amazon sidewalk. Is it worth it that all that Amazon echoes are going to be linked from now on. saying how if you lost your Wi-Fi and then someone else’s echo can theoretically power your stuff. You kind of wonder if other people’s bandwidth is going to go down because of that but at the same time this is kind of a privacy concern. I used to enjoy the echo and also I used to own two different models in the past but I don’t like what Amazon’s doing right now. I got rid of my smart speakers and I just bought a light wake up clock instead and using a iHome salt lamp to help me fall asleep and I bought a extra Phillip hue physical switch to make turning off lights more convenient. So in other words I don’t really need the echo anymore and keep more of my privacy

@JuNae Sorenson-Jones well for me personally, I was feeling less comfortable with a smart speaker considering how things were going politically. I bought a Nvidia shield, a streaming device and it’s very fast for a streamer. It has built in Google assistant, so if I need anything I can just press the button on the remote.

Aside from Disabling Sidewalk being possible you’ve also misunderstood what it does. Devices connect for configurations or simple things like a ring doorbell notification if the internetnet is offline. they can’t stream video or audio through sidewalk and sidewalk is not a wifi connection.

@rubenrar1 I have an iPhone XR I don’t know if that will work on iOS devices. I’m not upgrading it until the 13 comes out or whatever they decide to call it. Lol
I do have Norton premium 360 though and it’s been working great.

@JuNae Sorenson-Jones nice, I have the Samsung S10 plus and my friend has the s20. I have the tab s 7 tablet and I use it for school so I can write down my notes digitally. Usually when the semester ends, you have to break out the trash bag, but I do love their s pen, it’s not bad. My friend helped me build a PC for school last semester, it’s true I do get distracted by the RGB on it but it’s wicked fast lol. Nvme drives are fast .

@rubenrar1 If you don’t trust smart speakers (not sure what politics has to do with that, but OK) why would you get a device with Google Assistant? Same thing.

Spot-on review! I have the original Show 5 on my nightstand that I paid $45 for. It’s the perfect clock radio that adds needed features. I love how it integrates with SiriusXM. It’s also a very decent nightstand Bluetooth speaker.

I don’t use my Show 5’s features, but it shines at what I ask it to do.

I also use a Show 8 in the kitchen. It’s the perfect size for that use.

Even though it’s been 3? Years since I got an echo spot, still pissed it was higher then, than an echo show 5 and 8 is now. That’s what you get for jumping on new technology as soon as it’s released. Plus I think the spot has been discontinued anyway.

A younger relative gave an Echo 5 Show to my wife, her sisters, and her brother, so they could video chat during the pandemic, but we’ve never been able to figure out how to get that to work. Amazon’s documentation is horrible. We’ve given up on it.
