This would play havoc with an alarm system’s motion detectors.

Meh, no interest in a drone camera.
“Hackers are already gaining access to smart home cameras on the REG”
Your English teacher must be in agony after hearing that.

I am imagining the flying drone will later evolve to have suction cups that will allow it to mount itself to walls, ceiling.. or a kind of passive or active hook to its top.. and also some kind of arm/stick that will allow it to press or move things.. and or some kind of grabber that will allow it to pick up things.. I think it would be interesting if you could give it audio commands.. such as “go check the kitchen or go check the front door or go check the living room (etc).. as opposed to having to manually fly it to a location and fly it back.. I think the future will include a full 360-degree cam and perhaps even stereoscopic vision?… perhaps also some kind of dynamic camouflage that allows it to change its color to match the background?

really getting sick and tired of hacker scare tactics…almost all security breaches for live cameras have been because of customers not changing the default password, or making their password 12345, like cmon (exception could be Eufy security camera issue that just happened, but that was not a hack, that company is a moron apparentaly)…as long as you make a really good strong password, and constantly change it, and active 2f2 9 out of 10 times we are fine…who the heck wants to spend their time trying to hack a super strong password to watch your videos or mine…lol no one…these hackers just go around putting in admin admin and see who is stupid…trust me, what is more of an issue is the company being hacked and them losing your email address and password, but again if you use 1password or any other password generated you are fine…I’m buying this drone and just going to have a fun time flying around and bothering my wife and kids…if it sucks I’ll just return it or off to ebay it goes…get an NVR for security, that’s the best period

Buy a few Wyze cams and put them so they can see all the doors and windows. It would cost less and be more fault tolerant.

Hard no. Not in my house. Had a Ring doorbell before it was acquired by the giant vampire squid Amazon. It worked ok, but now that the police can access your camera without your permission, no way. After Amazon bought out Ring, I banned it from my home. Anyone that cares about privacy and your constitutional rights, should never put any network connect devices in your home until better privacy laws are created. I wouldn’t hold your breath. Just get a close circuit security camera system, and never connect it to the Internet. Not at this time. In case you didn’t notice, we are in a full scale cyber war. This is what World War III looks like.

Almost guarantee you this device will get its production cancelled. It is a neat gimmick, but that is basically ALL it will be. A gimmick. and a security risk at that.

i’ve wondered for a long time how spineless people are when it comes to buying. sure some young activists boycott nike for a couple of years (and at the same time they used happily windows or a mac and with ie or chrome etc..) or they still buy sony despite that companys many mean deeds and always going tendency to try to force people to use something propiertary which they control. ring is known for they privacy and security problems, some intentional and still people buy its products? i wonder if they could win at court with a argument of “they knew about our problems, they are well documented all over internet” when someone finds pictures of naked themselves at home online 🙂

  41. MWA

    June 1, 2021 at 6:08 pm

make sure you have backup electricity and internet connection/wifi before investing in ANY security products. Most burglars know where the main fuse box is located and most property the internet cable is visible from OUTSIDE.

For the price of single flying drone camera, you can install 12 regular adrunio base cameras. Unless you have more than 12 rooms in your house/apartment, it might be cheaper to seek alternative. Even putting civil liberty and privacy concern aside. It’s really hard to justify the price for the value it bring.

I had a Ring doorbell for 1.5 year and it was a constant nightmare. Even after buying a Mesh Wifi system, that ring doorbell it never worked properly.

    • respdoc

      June 1, 2021 at 8:09 pm

The fact you somehow automatically equate buying a “mesh wifi system” to fixing any possible issues with a doorbell cam…..shows probably most of the problems are user error.

    • Denis Lara

      June 1, 2021 at 8:28 pm

@respdoc ???? We bought because the little wifi router was not enough and the coverage wasn’t that great. So, we got a 3 router system from Orbi to give a the ring doorbell a change. We even hook up power supply to the unit. It didn’t matter when someone rang the doorbell the app would just show “loading” what a joke. 1 year with the best doorbell and the google Home Screen and not a single issue with “buffering”. How exactly that is user error? Don’t be so bitter that thing sucks.
