This isn’t new. They had the find the remote and beeping sound to find it a few generations ago. Then for no reason removed it.

I would’ve preferred wireless charging over any plug in option. Remote spends most of it’s life in one place

How do you lose your remote anyway. Never happened in 40 years!

*I’ve already got 4 Roku remotes…I’ll wait for a version 2.0 (or at least 1.5) to get the Pro, but looks like a good start.*

My daughter tied my remote to the end table because she was fed up with me leaving it in my pocket and taking it to work…

They need to make their remotes to where u can program those 4 preset buttons & it should come with stickers to change them out.
Yes, they do go thru batteries quickly,no matter if it’s Energizer, Duracell or Rayovac, so thank God they’re rechargeable now.

      Get Amazon Basics rechargeable batteries.

Maybe I’m just weird, but I’d prefer using my own rechargeable AA batteries as opposed to having to plug in and charge the device itself. And using micro USB for the charging interface is just ridiculous. I’ve always hated that connector, and there’s no excuse for a new device to use it in 2021.

they need to make their remotes have better connectivity. Mine on the Ultra loses connection randomly even with a full battery

If the YouTuber thinks plugging his remote into microUSB is bad, having to remove the batteries to recharge them is even worse.

The micro USB is the deal breaker for me for sure. Did I see that properly, you don’t even have the option to use regular batteries? You’re stuck being tethered for a few hours or trying to switch it out at the end of the night with other cables? Yeah… This single “find my remote” feature hardly seems worth $30.
And like someone else said, I would have much rather preferred wireless charging. Guess I’ll just have to wait until 2.0.

I downloaded the Roku app to my phone and have my remote on my bedside table

  31. Cheekypleb

    April 28, 2021 at 5:04 am

It’s meh. If it’s between a cushion or under a pillow/blanket, it can barely be heard, at best. I do like the fact it can be charged. No more batteries to replace as I had have to do so every couple of months. I ordered many Apple Airtags so I’ll just attach those to all my remotes.

    April 28, 2021 at 12:47 pm

Or… use your phone + roku app. Control all your roku TVs and not likely to lose your phone lol

Roku especially the Ultras need to upgrade to Bluetooth pairing to sound devices.
