@420KinK Dennis Tito was the first Space Tourist. He flew to the ISS in 2001 onboard a Soyuz spacecraft. He was followed by Mark Shuttleworth in 2002. To date there has been 8 orbital space tourist flights. All flown by the Russians, but brokered by an American company. So no, SpaceX won’t be “first”.

✈️✈️✈️✈️✈️✈️✈️✈️✈️✈️✈️✈️✈️✈️✈️✈️ all Virgin Galactic have to do is to insert a jet engine underneath their VSS spaceship for take off and landing. Keep the tail rocket for orbit propulsion and reentry deceleration. Cover the front intake once in rocket mode to protect the jet engine and to use the same front intake to decelerate the Spaceship right before to enter the atmosphere and switch back to airplane mode. One machine with to engine.

Luckily, so few people will be able to afford a ticket that, within a year or 5, everyone that can go up WILL go up And the company will probably go broke. Because the world isn’t populated by people that spend a quarter of a million for their spouse’s anniversary. The world is populated by the backs that those people build their lives on.

I mean virgin galactic is basically already doing it. Also I think their technology and way of doing it is most scalable and most viable. To strap yourself in a balloon or in a rocket is a little different then a booster plane. People are talking allot about the ticket price. But there is allot of demand out there to go to space, and there are 20million millionaires in the us alone. So yeah don’t see ticket pricing as an issue. Especially since VG has first mover advantage and will grant customers life time bragging rights for being first. VG will scoop up that money out of the market. After that people are not buying these prices any more and other companies that come after will have to offer cheaper ticket prices. ✈️

No emoji, sorry, but this video is already outdated because Space X has scheduled a tourist flight for September 2021, a billionaire and three other “first timers” will go through intensive training for months in preparation, and–unless there’s a reason to scrap the plan for a decade–none of the other “competitors” has a planned civilian tourist flight in the near future.
