its not easy as you think it is.
I have tried it. How much ever I ask my partner to learn basic of finance, it never happens.

And also knowing my partner, If i happen to reveal 10% of what I have, the first demand will be to spend all that.

How do you begin having this conversation if one of you is unemployed or is an intern?

    • stormlord121

      February 3, 2021 at 9:55 am

I think the 1st conversation starter could be very useful there: “What are your long term financial goals?”

That person is unemployed today, but tomorrow might get a job. That person is an intern today, but tomorrow might get a job so it is a good exercise to talk and see what that person would do IF they had access to money. You listen, you talk and you figure out your similarities and differences from there.

Never be the comeup woman. Get someone established.

    • Chulumanco Giyose

      February 4, 2021 at 7:12 am

@E con I’m the intern in the relationship which is just like being unemployed tbh because it’s a very short contract. He is established. I dont know how much ground I have to start this conversation when I’m the one who has a dependence on him

    • manfred schmalbach

      February 4, 2021 at 9:00 am

@Chulumanco Giyose Simple answer: You are the one who has to start the conversation should You want to keep the relationship while feeling dependent. Feeling dependent while pretending somehow You aren’t (usual mistake today) does ruin Your relationship faster than You might think.
Do not pretend an independency You don’t have (that’s the biggest mistake feminists constantly make by the way) – talk openly about Your reality of feeling/being dependent and see how You both think about it, and feel about it. There’s no problem in having less money, the problem starts the moment You _pretend_ financial equality where there is none.

Money is the first thing they talk about in Indian arranged marriages. Look at the divorce rate.

    • Namritha Maniyodath

      February 3, 2021 at 4:49 pm

Indian arranged marriages have lower divorce rate because of the stigma of divorce and not because being open about finances.

      February 3, 2021 at 6:47 pm

@Namritha Maniyodath i know these factors exist. Like reputation and submission to societal thinking. But here,i was just wrote that to lighten the mood, as a joke ofcourse.

@Namritha Maniyodath Western divorce rates decrease increasingly fast with the reasonable plummeting of marriage rates … not risking the wedding-mistake is the sensible decision in the actual situation western jurisdiction brought to male divorcees.

If you live with somebody and don’t disclose the amount of money you have, it’s simple:
    1. They love to spend too much and you’ll end broke 😅
    2. No trust in the relationship.
If it’s 1, either consider if you’re just stingy and need to open your wallet a little bit, or if it’s possible to sustain such a relationship.
    If it’s 2, hopeless

The trouble I’ve always found is that women tend to buy things (from joint funds) for the house, home or children and then claim that such purchases are from ‘both of us’. Then, when I want to buy something, it’s somehow just for me, making me out to be the spendthrift when I profoundly believe that we didn’t need a new rug, or set of curtains and the kids definitely didn’t need a new pair of trainers just because the old ones look tired and “Janis at school looked disparagingly at them last week”. Men and women _think_ differently and no amount of ‘talking that through’ is going to solve that*. Successful couples embrace their differences and don’t fight to change the other.

    * _edit: nor does it need to be solved._

The cryptocurrency has charted a 10-fold rally in the past 11 months, offering a significantly higher return than gold amid the massive inflation-boosting monetary and fiscal stimulus delivered by authorities worldwide to counter the coronavirus-induced economic slowdown. The precious metal reached a record high of $56.000 in February 2021 and has been trending higher ever since. I invested 6BTC and I have been earning 2BTC weekly.

If you found your soulmate , you wouldn’t discuss the money or precious things . Soulmate meaning that is , Although you don’t have enough money to take or buy something for your partner , If you buy something makes her happy . It’s inevitably something for your partner . As long as I live with my wife , We’ll be happier than we think . Because we don’t live for money , appliances, tools or buying a home. We live each together for being happy on eart . 😊

Considering that in the US, 50% of couples get divorced, and women initiate 80% of those , and in the majority of cases, they take your kids, your house, half of your money and income, I think the best thing is to never get in a position where you can lose your money to your partner, and keep your finances separate. You both have only your money, and you do your finances for your part only.

    • Adrian Bunea

@E con that’s what I’m suggesting, the current marriage system and family court in most European countries, and especially in America, is heavily biased against men, and encourages women to take advantage of it. Marriage is failing in all of these western countries and it shows. Men are already more and more reluctant to marry or even commit to a relationship.
