I wonder how many years do we have to fold our iPhone Duo till we reached 124,704 folds
@theninjarush1163
October 29, 2026 at 6:16 pm
@RPGxGACHA 100 folds a day? 3.4 years.

Well, that’s going on. Drop a bit of sand in there and we’ll see how far it goes then.

Cnet’s iphone duo is currently at 125,000 folds and still going strong, so this seems to be an outlier.

Is the crease getting hot ?
@GreenEyes_MS
October 29, 2026 at 8:01 pm
People tend to “over open” hinged devices which the hinge has to stop. Also, people might open by the corners. If the machine could replicate those forces, we might get a different result.
@mrdextrous355
October 29, 2026 at 8:12 pm
@GreenEyes_MS or or hear me out…it may not happen at all
@GreenEyes_MS
October 29, 2026 at 8:26 pm
@mrdextrous355. Agreed, which is why I wrote “might” as opposed to “probably.” I think it will continue to be a common or even rare problem.

yeah but by changing the test – we can no longer do an apple to apple comparison against Samsung! The Samsung folding test set the baseline. We know do NOT have a baseline comparison.

Trying to open and close a foldable phone over 121k times has absolutely nothing to do with being “realistic”. It’s all theatre. This is NOT a real world test!
@mikeys-youtube
October 30, 2026 at 3:00 am
Youre right, in the real world opening it like the machine does is not accurate, its actually generating a lot more heat this way than with real world use. More stressful than a real life fold would be.

This test is clearly not good, several other testers hand testing have got the first break ~ the 75k mark this test is fast approaching double that

Fold gate is fake AI people
@stoilalex242
October 30, 2026 at 7:08 am
It is not about the folds – it is about some piece that brakes from the hinge and gets stuck somewhere where it brakes the screen.
@rajendra82a
October 30, 2026 at 4:44 pm
You are correct, and it appears so far that this beak appears early in the usage. Once your phone is part of the overwhelming majority of the non-defective units, you are fine.
@ljr869
October 30, 2026 at 8:10 am
Don’t you think Apple already completed this test?
@sam1079
October 30, 2026 at 8:14 am
The test is not accurate at all. With all foldables, people tend to press the center of the inner screen to fold it close.
