Local legislation: Make data centers recycle their water onsite, and only allow them to build in areas that are at least 5 miles from residential areas.

Bet if the top executives of companies that financially benefit from data centers were forced to live next to them, the data centers would look beautiful, smell like flowers and give off no noise or anything else negative. 😂 I don’t see the issue: supply and demand – if they really really want data centers they have to pay a premium that matches the demand and compensate people that get negatively impacted.

Better: If they come to claim your town to basically destroy it by building an AI data center: Make them an offer they can’t refuse: They can either pay everyone a full relocation to whereever each individual wants to go (including own land and house) or there journey ends today, if you catch my drift.

Add that to the cost of a crumbling infrastructure that doesn’t support most landlords to keep their tenants in houses that are also crumbling. No , we don’t need a bunch of people to go , inspect the houses and then crumble them in expecting them to all be demolished, we also don’t want price hikes and all the things that we need that are working and steady that don’t break, no, we don’t want more things that have to be fixed because we can’t afford to pay the people to come fix them.And we don’t know what is breaking , so we can be taken advantage of easily be talked down to about things that are breaking while we’re trying to fix them to the best of our ability. I have a landlord who has ten daughters. In the nineties , someone was talking people into becoming landlords, and then they started to hassle people about property taxes. Now they prop it up , so people are going to be kicked out into the streets while everything is crumbling , and nobody has the resources or the right two properties while simultaneously trying to bring them back to nature places, at the same time feeding local communities. Too many times I hear about people acquiring land and how great they have it talking about how hard they work to keep it, how they have fresh water, they don’t even test their own waters or believe that water tables are connected. It’s almost as if an entire section of people are being lied to and fully believe them. They’re about to get poisoned , like all the rest of us if they’re not careful and as history teaches us oftentimes , they ignore the buildup of trouble. Perpetual energy is not a thing, if you bring it up online , it routes you straight into the you can’t do that , because it’s not possible trap. But we have been using things to make it take less energy for so long that we already know how to do it. It’s their choice at this point, and they’ve turned us all into an option that they can opt out on. You can’t both own property and be proud without sharing space with other humans and still claim that you’re protecting that land by keeping people that are homeless out and without resource.

Some great ideas. Make the tech companies pay for the increased demand and prices. I love the idea of using data centers to rewire the grid: make each home it’s own power plant (paid for by the tech companies), then homes will be self sufficient and the power companies can just support the data centers.

sounds like a another reasonable idea that will give way for opportunities to embezzle or scam. No, I don’t have trust issues. I have accountability issues. Every single time money is set aside for a decent cause, indecent people successfully figure out how to steal some of it. I’d rather have the tech companies pay for electricity. Let them cope with tier levels and times of day use. Speaker has a worthy idea but no clue how the love of money really drives people.
