I wear a garmin Mk2s as my daily. An overkill but it’s also because I do scuba diving, so it doubles as a dive computer and a smart watch. I’m never upgrading because I love how the ugly display actually helps with battery life. 😂

Im pretty sure the 70 does not have dual band gps
@ndennan67
August 4, 2026 at 2:29 pm
@kevinl8282 definitely hasn’t got dual band GPS. Garmin always keeps the dual band GPS + All Systems GNSS for their more expensive watches it just has all systems GNSS

This watch does not have multi-band GPS.
@renelopez7325
August 6, 2026 at 1:57 am
@Divredux I think what he really meant is that it can connect to multiple different satellite systems, he just didn’t distinguish that the watch can’t connect to more than one at a time.

The 170 will not give you skin temperature. It too uses the elevate gen 4 sensor. You should correct that in case some female is watching this and wants the feature for cycle tracking. The temperature on the 170 is the outside temperature not skin, thought I’d clear that up.

Forerunner 70 and 170 don’t have dual band gps. They have single band gps.

I have the fenix 7X Pro Solar and I love it. One of the features I really like is the transflective Memory-in-Pixel (MIP) display. It is easy to read in sunlight (easier the brighter the sun). I also went with it for the button navigation while doing water activities and 10ATM waterproof rating. The other Garmin watches I would consider are the Forerunner 255 or Forerunner 955 as they also have the transflective display (only 5ATM waterproof rating).

Only downside with 70 is not having barometric altimeter which helps record flights of stairs or elevation gain realtime or places where you don’t want to record your activity with GPS

I switched from the bigger, bulkier Garmin watches to the new/current Venu X1 a while back, and I couldn’t be happier. The larger rectangular display is better for information presentation, and the 8 days of battery I’m getting is more than enough for me. I don’t do multi-day endurance activities. I love how thin and light it is. The single-band GPS is still (slightly) better than what I saw with my Pixel Watch 4’s multi-band GPS.
