I was very depresses as well, however at one point I noticed, that the perspective on things can have a big influence on my mood. The amount of water in a glass does not change regardless whether i am an optimist or pessimist, only my mood does. Try the App it helped me a lot 🙂

4/28/10 From The Lord, Our God and Savior
The Word of The Lord Spoken to Timothy
For The Lord’s Watchmen, and For All Those Who Have Ears to Hear

Thus says The Lord to those who are faithful and hold fast to the line… To those whose hearts remain close to The Holy Covenant, whose minds are set upon The Goal; those whose thoughts grab hold of the vision with countenances unchanged, adamant stones who can not be moved from My purpose, rocks of offense set in the midst of this most rebellious generation; servants who remain in My love,[1] who long for justice to run down like water and for righteousness to flow like a mighty stream,[2] for the zeal of The Lord of Hosts dwells within them…

My sons, in the midst of you I have placed a measuring line. Even amidst many stones of stumbling have I stretched it out, that you may follow it, that you may go straight forward. And though you yet stumble, I have indeed stretched it out before you, lest you should fall and be unable to rise up again. For the weight of this revelation is indeed very heavy and shall be met with much resistance. Persecution and slander shall come forth to bar your way, many voices condemning you for your actions, many accusations brought forth falsely on account of My words. Lo, it has come forth already, and shall continue and increase by measure.
Yet do not be at all dismayed by this people, nor be taken aback by their words; do not listen to their slander. And when they draw close to abuse you in word or by deed, do not turn and run. For I shall be with you and dwell in you like a flame of fire. Behold, I shall make you as a fortified city, with high and thick walls, built with strong and tempered mortar, which no man can scale nor shall the enemy break through. For no weapon forged against Me shall by any means prosper. I AM THE LORD.
Therefore, My sons, hear the Word of My mouth and so do; heed all My commands and do not hesitate when the decree is sent down. Go forth in My name and do not relent, nor be turned aside, for the mouth of The Living God has spoken! Trumpet My fierce rebuke and make My indignation known, without ceasing!

Share My words and declare My wrath
In every corner of your reach, by all manner
    Of speaking and devices!…

Speak My words aloud, and blow the Trumpet
Against this nation and against the churches of men!…

Yea, sound to the four corners,
Blow the Trumpet in all the earth!…

    Says The Lord God.

My watchmen, pick up the Trumpet and turn toward the churches of men and declare the Word of My mouth, that the sound of My voice may humble them. Yet if they will by no means be humbled upon hearing the Word of The Lord, behold, on a day they do not know and at an hour they do not expect, I will come forth from My place and strip them naked and pour out all their riches upon the ground. Lo, I will sift them and bring forth a remnant, even from the midst of them, and they shall be left all alone in bewilderment and tears.
Therefore, again I say to you, blow the Trumpet, My sons. For the time of The Lord’s Rebuke has come and the warning must be given. Go, hesitate not! Go forth and make enemies of all peoples and nations! Cause a great division,[3] even within the churches of men! For I have not come forth to give them peace, that they may sit at ease in all their fornications, or to sit idly by as iniquity overtakes them; no, I have not come forth to make peace, but war, a great division!

For this is the sword I bring,[4]
Even to the slaying of every heart,
To the breaking up of every false foundation…

Behold, I am come forth to divide asunder,
To cut in pieces, until all this enmity is torn down…

    Says The Lord.

Seriously, we need to leave nature to itself and protect it. When we’ll decide to vote 70% of the Earth as a protected zone, and get what we need from our share (30%), our survival we’ll be assured. Every human made intervention, like restauration, is disruption of the evironnement. We can favorise it, but we must do as little as possible.

Because of the pandemic, we now have proof of just how much our “activity” damages the enviroment. Everyone that looked outside in April and May and smelled the air, watched the waters, and witnessed wildlife on our streets cannot deny anymore just how much impact we do on our planet.
In the coming years I hope we will see (more) action done in the direction of Ecology, instead of the direction of Economy.

      Some problems yes. Not all.
There were plenty of problems in the world back when there was less than 3 billion people. That was only 60 years ago. Were now at nearly 8 billion.
But I agree less population would be very helpful to manage our issues of pollution and resource waste.

@Bob A (this is directed at smart people, not at you)

Trump has appointed an ex-CEO of ExxonMobil (arguably the single entity that is most responsible for climate change in the entire history of humanity) as his secretary of state, and he has appointed LITERAL lobbyists of coal and oil as chiefs of the Environmental Protection Agency. He is also currently reversing all environmental regulations ever made in the history of the USA, even those not linked with Climate Change. Even his project of a wall at the boarder with Mexico (if ever completed) would disrupt migratory patterns of thousands of species, severely impacting their chances of survival. Also, Trump increased USA’s production of oil and he promoted the construction of a new oil pipeline (that, by the way, would destroy sacred cemeteries for the Native Americans). USA’s downward trend of CO2 emissions actually started YEARS before the Trump’s administration and are the result of the very same regulations that the Trump administration has unraveled and is currently unraveling.

He’s right. Monoculture is as terrible as deforestation. Japanese lumber companies and municipalities to back up its business planted only cedar trees and ruined biodiversity in the area. Single type of trees in mountains are causing huge problems in Japanese forests. They cause no food for wildlife which increased human bear conflicts in rural area. Season pollen causing terrible allergy among millions of people, erosion due to weaker underground roots.

Years of talks for action like this and still forests are being cut down for farming….. Action made a difference not poetic sad speeches like this…
The only guaranteed way to save the earth…
    1. Reduce the human population by introducing strict 1 child birth control regardless of wealth, status and political position.
    2. Force trade restrictions / sanctions on countries that legally politically backed de-forestation for farming, Mass slaughtering whales, Over-fishing, Poaching wildlife, etc. Look at Amazon , Africa, Faroe Islands .
    3. Police the wildlife against all forms of poaching, even banning profiteering from selling licences and Trophy hunting endangered species.
    Death penalty for poaching.
    4. Ban ALL PRODUCTS that use animal parts that derive from poaching.
    5. Ban wildlife trade by locking down trade with such communities.

USA Consumes 2x Times more then its Produce of all Goods and Supplies ! Think about it, where is demand there is allways a market !
Its a Circle, USA needs alot Goods also Wood, so if regulation of importing goods in USA will be activated, there would a HUGE impact on all of the world. But no USA needs to consume more and more….for that it will not work your project, its alike a little drop in Ocean ! it will have an smaller impact.

You can still keep whatever religious beliefs you have; it’s the easiest way to preserve the only planet we have and our bodies also thrive off of plants as a bonus. I went Vegan as a birthday gift/challenge to myself and it’s been the most impactful decision of my life that requires the least effort.

Tom & teams: a wonderful, open & expansive Earth (biodiversity) initiative. It begins to mirror the natural GENIUS OF EARTH. Your full stop evaluation, admission project failures & then PIVOTED to get it right is… both rare & wonderful, Tom.

And the integration of AI in our Earth restoration initiatives is absolutely critical. Absolutely critical.

Zooming out across both Earth & recent history- Humanity has not been good at protecting the planet.

While it is not “our” Earth, it is our one & only HOME. I have no illusion that Humanity, as a whole, will commit itself to healing our Planet of Origin. They won’t.

An amazing talk, I have been preaching the same truth for decades, but as I no longer work in academia many of my words fall on silent ears. I spent years studying the relationship between fungal ecosystems and forests, especially where invasive non-native trees have taken hold.

The damage to the soil from invasive species is immense, I spent 13 months in Florida looking at an invasive tree species, my research indicated the reason I had become invasive was because it’s leaves deposited a chemical in the soil which inhibited the growth of the mycorrhizal fungi of the native species.

Biodiversity is the number one key to helping restore this planet, monoculture and trees for lumber are not the solution. A forest can take 40 years just to achieve carbon neutrality. Trees for lumber do not live long enough to fix carbon and so cause more damage than good.

Anyway that’s my rant over, as a fellow mycologist I hear you and will look into the RESTOR project. Everyone should look to see if their is something they can do either locally or by providing accurate information.

    Once again, great speech.
