Because I don’t care about FPS or high graphics, I’d rather go with Steam Deck (plus that can play ANY Steam game, which is in a much bigger library).

Typical of XBOX to be beaten by a console (handheld or otherwise) older than itself.

    October 15, 2025 at 5:44 pm

I don’t understand why every video out there right now is comparing the Steam Deck to the Ally X, which is double the price. Why not compare it to the base Ally? They’re similar in price. Also, the title says comparing the Steam Deck to the Ally, but you’re only comparing it to the 2x more expensive Ally X.

    October 15, 2025 at 8:42 pm

No oled and comparing it to something that’s years old, what’s the point. Steam Deck 2 is coming soon and will be better than the Xbox ally. I’ll gladly wait.

    • @ThatWasRage

      October 16, 2025 at 3:11 am

Steam Deck 2 is very much not coming soon. We will be lucky if it comes out in 2027. Most likely 2028.

    • @DrSmith5501

      Nah the Deck is overrated

    • @ThatWasRage

      October 16, 2025 at 3:10 am

Listen I’m getting my Xbox ally X. Steam deck isn’t worth it for me. Need to upgrade that GPU and CPU in the steam for me to even think about it .

  33. @tubbyman771

    October 15, 2025 at 11:34 pm

You constantly reference the brice but mostly ignore the white xbox ally the ones thats slightly more expensive then a steam deck wtf

  34. @raifordkenneth15

    this seems bias

  35. @cameron9292

    October 16, 2025 at 1:53 am

Comparing the $550 Steam Deck to the $1000 Xbox ROG Ally X seems very disingenuous, you should have compared it to the $600 Xbox ROG Ally

  36. @emmanuelharbor2350

how can a 1k price increase have bug issues. will stick to my steam deck

None of the tiers you listed for Game Pass is applicable for this handheld. They are for the Xbox console, all you need for this is PC Game Pass which is £100 a year and you get all the day one games. If you are going to review a product, actually research what you are reviewing.

  39. @richardclark6113

    October 16, 2025 at 4:42 am

Software should improve over the years for sure.

    This is a first iteration.

    Price is way too high.

Still rocking my LCD Steamdeck which works great.

  40. @PejicVladimir

    October 16, 2025 at 5:20 am

You dont need the Ultimate GP with this, it`s a PC – so you can only get GP PC …

  41. @ivandimitrov7994

    October 16, 2025 at 9:04 am

Not disagreeing with any of your points, but just to offer a different point of view. I don’t think I wanna buy a handheld and have specific games I play on it. When I’m at home I will always play on my PC and owning a handheld won’t change that. What I like as an idea is having a handheld where I can keep my savegame going when I lose access to my PC. Like if I’m doing a run on Elden Ring obviously I will play it on my TV when that’s available, but it sounds really nice if I can do a dungeon or two while waiting for the bus or something like that. And to be able to pull that off with the heavy games I’m usually in I’d need something more powerful than a steam deck.

  42. @trexeyesonly55

    October 16, 2025 at 10:36 am

Xbox ally is a no brainer for PC gamers, it is also for console players as well if they have gamepass subscription (or if their favourite games is Xbox play anywhere title), so this is the future; Xbox on windows

  43. @trexeyesonly55

    October 16, 2025 at 10:43 am

Beware Steam fanboys are in comments. To be clear cheap version of Xbox ally beats steam deck in many ways; 120hz screen instead of 60hz, bigger SSD, 50% more battery, better graphics, more games option to play, gamepass support, Xbox anywhere games free of charge, if you are pc gamer you can play all your games from all stores… The list goes on and on.. yes I am talking about cheap version of Xbox ally, and Asus hardware quality is always very good, check for example controller sticks and compare with steam deck;)

  44. @pintox83

    October 16, 2025 at 10:50 am

Please, do a performance comparison video of ROG Xbox Ally (White) with the Steam Deck. That would be useful

  45. @afrothundar

    October 16, 2025 at 1:32 pm

I don’t have an Xbox, but the inability to play off your games on this is an immediate no go.

  46. @JeremyMarkel

    October 16, 2025 at 3:24 pm

As a bonus, you get Teams, MS office trial, and other MS bloat included. Plus the great windows setup experience that you always wanted on a gaming handheld! Hahaha.

No thanks, I’ll stick to the Steam Deck’s lower performance rather than be subjected to more Microsoft BS.

  47. @tropicalwaffle2348

    October 16, 2025 at 5:05 pm

    This is a disingenuous review….

  48. @reddwolf42

    October 17, 2025 at 6:07 pm

Steam deck can run Cyberpunk and Red Dead 2 smooth. Enough said. Some complain about the display resolution but if you own one it’s not that crazy of an issue. Versus the cost to play 4k 144fps, this is comparable to 1080p resolution and at a fraction of the cost. I get more fps than the display refresh in nearly every game. Smoother than a consoles in some cases.
Edit: You can play xbox games on steam deck btw its a handheld computer not just a gaming device. Been known for several years.

  49. @wilburfudd

    October 17, 2025 at 7:23 pm

I have a Rog Ally and MSI Claw and I’ll keep them, the only upgrade I wanted was the bigger battery and that price makes it not worth it.

  50. @Paul_Allen_VHS

    October 17, 2025 at 10:03 pm

It does not play Xbox games.

  51. @legacyreaper1834

    October 17, 2025 at 11:32 pm

For the price, the least they could have done is put an 8 inch screen on this. Even the Switch 2 has an 8 inch screen and it’s only $450.

I get it this is a mini computer but they’re competing with the Steam Deck and the Switch. Price is just too high

  52. @joejoe2658

    October 18, 2025 at 1:48 am

as with everything “xbox” this is an embarrassing, confusing turd, from the dumb naming on down. NO VR, NO GYRO, NO HAPTICS, NO ADAPTIVE TRIGGERS is a dead platform, looking more and more like a microsoft scam with every facepalm decision/lie, so stop trying to get people to waste money on this overpriced pile of garbage (that is NOT an “xbox”). they even chose to angle the NOT-OLED screen away from the owners eyes. XSSXSSXSXSSSXSSXX. get a switch 2.

  53. @yozzie3246

    October 18, 2025 at 3:42 am

Title suggests the non X comparison… wrong video for the title.

  54. @andresalgadomarques

    Love my PS Vita ❤️

  55. @andresalgadomarques

    October 18, 2025 at 6:05 am

Let’s see how the microSD card reader holds up on. Mine on the white version fried right away…

  56. @Geekvangelist

    October 18, 2025 at 2:33 pm

I think they fixed several of the issues you encountered. For example, when setting it up, it showed small, animated screen related to Xbox and Game Pass. I’ve played Doom – The Dark Ages, Fortnite, Silksong and RE7 on it and didn’t have any issues with the controller inputs. Lots of updates were applied day one on both Windows 11 and Armoury Crate.

One issue I ran into was with Hogwarts Legacy on cloud gaming. When entering my character’s name, the virtual keyboard popped up, entered the name, and pressed B to go back, but it took me two screens back, so I couldn’t even finish setting my character; maybe a physical keyboard can solve the issue, but that should not be the case.

I think it offers a very nice experience, but all the software (Windows, Xbox app, Armoury Crate, and games) still needs a lot of improvements to give a much better portable experience.

  57. @1mzfecsi

    October 19, 2025 at 6:43 am

Thinking that I should probably just wait for the next version of the Ally or perhaps an update to the software for which we could maybe lock out a button or two 🤔

  58. @RafaelGarcia-fm3ov

    October 19, 2025 at 7:53 am

The steam deck looks pretty ugly tho. These prices feel like the new standard sadly
