why would you buy the series s when the series x is so much better… 3 times the power is going to make games look so much sharper on a 4k tv since they dont need to be upscaled as much, as well as better 120fps support since theirs more power available to balance high quality visuals at high framerates, way better backwards compagtibility since you will be playing xbox one x versions of games instead of base console, as well as double the storage so you dont have to buy there pripiorty ssd just to fit a few games, also you get the option to play your older xbox one/360 discs and play used games.. 299 feels overpriced considering how much worse it is..

Tv review please. Qns- What to look for in your existing tv/monitor for each Xbox FPS ? What to look for when upgrading your Tv/monitor to take advantage of each Xbox FPS ? Can we downgrade resolution on the Xbox series X to get higher FPS at 1080/1440p on an existing TV/competitive play? I suspect 99% of people can only benefit from current tv/monitor ? Also, does Clair Reilly game? Curious

Not everyone can afford to buy every game full price so the only logical thing is to buy the console with the disk drive. Please don’t be so naive next time you make a video like this.

I’m really disappointed with these newer “Next-Gen” consoles and their small HDDs. C’mon 512 SSD? Or 1TB? These 2k/4K games are going to be MASSIVELY BIG & that’s gonna full up the HDD very quick. It should at least start at 1TB, then 2TB..

Games on the s should be smaller on the s so I shouldn’t be that big of a difference and at a distance away from your tv 1400 and 4 k doesn’t look that different .

In the case of the series s, what’s the point of bragging that you can play back ward compatible games if you can’t load them in? That’s why we care about optical drives.
Say someone has 20 years of games collected, what’s the use of them if they can’t be played on the series s? In that sense bragging about 3 generations of backwards compatibility is useless

I want the optical drive because I still buy my favorite movies. Such as The 3 Wick movies in 4K HDR. So Series X for me because I don’t want do buy a separate player for my movies.

Instant install, no load times, fast performance, easy to sell in a post optical age, and harder to pirate! Also goes further in justifying those game’s ridiculous prices.

This guy is an idiot and should stick to pc. It’s clear he doesn’t use consoles and shouldn’t have made this video. While on pc the optical drive is old and pretty useless. On video game consoles it is everything. Anyone remember how PS4 made fun of Xbox on their viral video “on how to lend a game to a friend?”. It cost Xbox big big time and led to a back track of having a disc less device. Gamers as opposed to PC players can’t play as many free games usually pay a higher price for them. Despite GameStops recent woes, the physical game market is still huge with trade in’s, exclusive packages and discounts. Not to mention mail on services like game fly. You will save thousands of dollars over the course of the life of your system with an optical drive. Also another point not related to optical drives. This Xbox s series will quickly show its self to be old and incapable of giving the best experiences for console gaming as the years go back on the games become more demanding as programmers figure things out. It has happened on all game systems ever, especially this generation as both Sony and Microsoft released higher end version of both launch systems. If you want to fork out hundreds of dollars for a new system in 3 years and thousands of dollars in extra money for games you can get cheaper on disk or through GameFly, then follow this guys advice.

Digital edition is cheaper.. But games are way to expensive… With disc version you can get used games. Or some time later. The price will drop. And you cant lend the game to someone else.

Now remember the rest of the world.

  50. TrakeM118

    September 12, 2020 at 1:28 am

I don’t think the Series S will actually be able to deliver decent frame rates in actual games at 1440p. Just because you have an output that can handle 1440p 120fps doesn’t mean you have the graphical power to deliver it.

  52. Christian Urban

    September 12, 2020 at 11:29 am

Do you really don’t understand why people choose games on a disc?

Of course downloads are more comfortable, everybody agrees. But first of all there is competition to sell discs between different stores, which makes many games significantly cheaper. There’s no competition for downloads. Second of all you can also sell a disc again, if you are done with the game. All in all it’s much cheaper to play the same game from a disc.

And by the way, if I’d sit in front of hundreds of books and LPs, I wouldn’t make such comments. I mean, is it 1970?

If you buy the digital version, you’re are falling into the company’s game of consuming and buy at their price and everytime. If you buy a physical copy of the game, you can share the game, you can get it used at a cheaper price, and you can resell them ( specially in the future they’ll cost more). Don’t be lazy and get out of your room, you need to exercise once in a while.

There’s a world of difference between the base Xbox One and Xbox One X. Are you just one of those guys that is sitting up here with a team of people that slap together a video so you can get some views. You’re not somebody that actually sits down and plays games are you? The Xbox One X is vastly superior to the base Xbox One not only does it have upgraded resolution the textures are upgraded as well which some people forget to talk about also the frame rate and anti-aliasing is massively upgraded so yes there is a world of difference you can clearly see it if you put them side-by-side or if you went from Xbox One to Xbox One X the same games look completely different

“Some people like optical drives. We aren’t living in that world anymore.”
“You can connect external hard drives to expand the space for the games you’ll download.”
Dude, Call of Duty Modern Warfare is currently occupying nearly all of my 500 GB Xbox One S HD space. The updates are like 30-60GB. People are going to need more and more space. The Optical drive is a must unless you literally are only committing to like 2-3 low space games for the life of your console.

    • Follow the howl

      September 13, 2020 at 8:24 am

A disc does not reduce the game size,
You still have to download/install the game fully.

MW would be 200gb if you have the disc,
Or 200gb if you download it

I prefer disc drives, but it doesn’t use less storage space.

And updates don’t increase the overall file size 🙂

    • agilesamus

      September 13, 2020 at 1:51 pm

@Follow the howl No. If the game is on a disk then the console loads the data it needs for the part of the game you are accessing into the console’s RAM. The RAM constantly updates as you go through different parts of the game. Have you ever had to wait while a game “Downloads” (from disk to console HD) when you pop in a disk? No.

  78. AWOL ODST

    September 13, 2020 at 3:12 am

You don’t need an optical drive… I guess u must like paying higher prices for games with no ability to trade them in if you don’t like it?

Good luck with that. I will keep my optical drive thank you very much.

PS Wait till u see the price of the offical expansion storage devices. This S won’t look so affordable then.

  79. Snooks

    September 13, 2020 at 4:00 am

IMO big part of game console market are people with collector mindsets, even if they don’t subscribe to the label of being one, and collecting digital games just isn’t the same thing. over time they will likely find out that the market will shrink, people will gradually stop buying as many games. same thing happened with music and movies going from physical -> digital.

  81. Rob H.

    September 13, 2020 at 5:45 am

So in a few years, when the mid-cycle upgrades come out, there will be some games where even the Series X cannot render them at 4K/60 (that’s what the new mid-cycle console will be for). So maybe the Series X will render those games at 1440p/60, let’s say. What’s the Series S going to do at that point? 720p/60? 1080p/30?

  82. COLE BEN DOGGETT

    September 13, 2020 at 7:13 am

High speed internet isn’t available everywhere so the optical drive is very important. Also when you purchase a digital game you can’t resell it like a physical copy. I’ll stick with the console where I can use a disk.

While I’ve been an Xbox user from having the black Xbox 360 which went great for a while to then going to the white Xbox One S which I still use to this day….

These next generation consoles dont 100% look all that attractive & while yes of course it’s what it can do not what it looks like that is the important thing obviously design does play its part….

Like I would have to go the Xbox Series X as I don’t want a all digital console as I prefer to just play one game at a time on disc this way I’m not needing to subscribe to anything just to get me up and going…..

But the Xbox Series X is kinda ugly & big I dunno to many ppl who will have the room ready to place that beside their tv but rather have to make room…..

I’m thinking wait till there is comparison videos on YouTube with size different & performance etc on the PlayStation 5 and these next Xbox consoles and then make a decision on which way to go…..
