me (latin american) and a european friend have a bet on when the US people will revolt. She’s optimistic and says “a couple months”. I think they’re too distracted and brainwashed to ever actually revolt, but if they did it would take at least another two years.
Over half the population there is so brainwashed and bigoted that no matter if they end up out on the street dying of hunger and can’t afford to cure themselves, they’ll blame woke DEI foringers before thinking it might be their political party.
The other half is spineless, inactive, cowardly, and also just as brainwashed.

My friend thinks that despite all the individualism, they might get a lone ranger to help them like mario’s brother. I think it might happen, but I’m not as optimistic.

  31. @rell_b_b

    March 27, 2025 at 10:02 am

I have a genuine question- why does this have to be America’s issue?

    • @miyatenmeiritsu1810

      March 27, 2025 at 11:47 am

Because USAID is essentially USA’s soft power projection agency, which was cannibalized under American First policy.
There are considerable fallout when USAID was gutted like this. Nevermind lots of people dying over the cut aid, lots of American workers lost their jobs over this tomfoolery.
That too, China Aid would be filling in the vacuum left by USAID, giving China a free pass to win influence over developing countries.

We’re constantly feed poison by our own government with all this processed garbage. Pesticides, herbicides, artificial flavor, food dyes, and many many more chemicals. And people think it’s a good idea to spread this crap around the world? (And this has nothing to do with Trump. They’ve been feeding us this crap since WWII)

  37. @eriktamlin

    March 27, 2025 at 11:32 am

USA has lost all credibility and the sad part is that most of the people who voted for the con man has no idea the damage he is causing. They will only understand when the health and economic damage comes back to US. We’re all connected, and US has willingly given up the leader roll. If this continues USA will be nothing but a cautonary tale.

  40. @apivorus

    March 27, 2025 at 3:38 pm

The main problem is not even that the Trump administration thinks USAID is ineffective. If their plan was to slowly phase out foreign aid e.g., in the next 10 years, then financial and social safety nets could have easily continued helping those in need. Instead, the administration is randomly gutting everything that displeases them. The people that could have solved world hunger and improved global health are just sowing chaos for their own good.

USAID is america’s greatest projection of soft power in the world. Musk is not smart enough to understand that apparently

  44. @asorite

    March 27, 2025 at 6:53 pm

The people working for USAID are amongst the best policy makers on the planet. They actually get to the poorest of the poor to gain knowledge on crafting laws that is actually amicable to absolutely everyone. Something that trump or musk can never begin to fathom because they live at the extreme antithesis of what usaid stands for.

  45. @andybarrgardens

    March 27, 2025 at 7:31 pm

So if we don’t feed them they will join ISIS? What kind of crazy logic is this? And don’t they have neighbors? Maybe they should try getting along rather than committing jihad against them. If only there were a few wealthy countries, perhaps with tons of oil, that shared their belief system and could help their “brothers”.

  46. @louibeale2387

    March 27, 2025 at 7:40 pm

The hard part about this story is that its completely one sided.
I dont think anyone is saying that USA.I.D was doing no good, i think the bigger castly more important picture is that it was wrought with corruption.
The reality is that few end up suffering for the corruption of even fewer.
Best way to stop corruption is to root it out.
We will bring back soft power. Its just that this time we’ll have to know where the money is actually being spent

  47. @louibeale2387

What baffles me is transport of grain half across the world to some remote location accessible only by small plane to feed few people. They survived until modern day somehow. So why the sudden need for imported food? What about growing something there? Providing seeds and knowledge how to farm would be far more beneficial and long-term sustainable than transporting food there. But we all know why. Majority of the money ends up in someone’s pocket.

The problem with USAID is that corrupt Deep State Departments, corrupt Senators, & corrupt Government long-term bureaucrats have also been using USAID to fund millions if not billions of TaxPayer Dollars to MADE-UP NGO’s, Special Interest Groups, Non-Profit Agencies, and Causes!!! Closing USAID may hurt those legitimate causes but it is a sacrifice we have to make in order to end the even BIGGER fraud & abuser of TaxPayer Money!! —– “THE NEEDS OF THE MANY OUTWEIGH THE FEW”!!!!!

That is (oops…WAS) only the window dressing. For those who want to see about the OTHER aspects of USAID (CIA tomfoolery, regime change, election fuckery, etc ), look up videos featuring Mike Benz. There are tons of them online. Mike will open your eyes. Happy surfing!

I’ve been paying attention to what’s happening. Listening instead of hearing what I want to hear or what I don’t want to hear.

It sounds like many programs are going to have continued funding or funding restored but under the State Department instead of USAID (which is now completely gone).

It also sounds like many programs will get a restoration of funding, but with grants for domestic labs and domestic researchers instead of foreign researchers.

The message in this video is wasted on youtube. You need to to talk directly to members of the State Department with a detailed per-project assessment of importance and impact of each program so they can address it and restore and fund the programs.

Let’s be pragmatic, if it’s a foreign grant, it’s an uphill battle. If it’s a domestic grant, it’s MUCH easier.

Let’s be clear right here. Clear water is the number one issue in any measure you can find or think. With one year spending we could easily develop factories to bring that to countries near oceans. We have the technology, but maybe getting health to people isn’t the thing here. It’s to get the money to those corrupted organizations. And yes, I have read how much my country throw money to these so called non-governmental organizations. If you want numbers how much they use for management and leadership, I’m more than willing to reveal those. But I will say, it’s only 10-15% incoming that goes to the targets. Fact!

Why aren’t we holding the governments of these countries accountable for providing these basic services for their citizens, so the rest of the world doesn’t have to? In effect, we’ve just been providing a band aide rather than dealing with the root causes of these issues. You’d think after all these years, some of that funding would have been invested in long-term solutions.

    • @Honkious5824

      March 31, 2025 at 8:09 am

That’s precisely the point. If countries are able to achieve self-sufficiency, then the US would have no way of keeping them aligned with it’s own interests. It deliberately makes developing countries dependent on it so they’re forced to bend the knee to it regardless of what it does.

All this video is really saying is that America should still be responsible for helping other countries. A lot of that map that USAID had partnered with seem to be Universities, too. The same places that are feeding this woke ideology where they protest America and support Palestine, want trans men in women’s sports, etc. etc. This just reinforced why they should cut it. The important things will get funding, and the bs stuff will stay cut. Can you also justify all the nonsense that USAID was funding??

  140. @greyj__

    March 31, 2025 at 10:39 pm

Why am I not seeing an comments about the USAID corruption?
Fraud & Waste: A 2021 report found $3.4 billion in improper payments across U.S. foreign aid.
Political Influence: Over 50% of USAID funds are often tied to U.S. political and strategic interests rather than direct humanitarian needs.
Contractor Mismanagement: Up to 70% of USAID’s budget goes to contractors and NGOs, some of which have been caught inflating costs or failing to deliver results.
Failed Projects: In Afghanistan alone, USAID spent $17 billion, with the Special Inspector General (SIGAR) reporting massive corruption and mismanagement.

Garbage people — Joe Rogan and his loud band of glazers — have done a remarkable job in lying about USAID. They’ve painted it as a secret CIA-led organization that spends our taxes on unproductive things such as paying for Netflix subscriptions or researching the gender identity of poisonous frogs.

Let’s see what happens when the next pandemic shows up. I have a feeling this same group of people will fail to connect the dots and figure out that it was a bad idea to end an organization that directly and indirectly eliminates diseases across the world.

    Vaxxes kill.
They do not heal. They poison. They destroy.

In twenty years, when your children are fighting cancer or your grandchildren are born sick, thank the white coat you trusted. Thank the system that told you it was safe.

You didn’t question. You didn’t research. You just obeyed.
Shot after shot. Needle after needle.
And now? They are poisoned. Their cells corrupted. Their immune systems wrecked.

Try explaining that to your grandchildren. Tell them why they will never know true health. Tell your child why they are tired, anxious, infertile, or riddled with autoimmune disease.

You let the system inject them with toxins. You handed them over. Not once. Not twice. Again. And again. And again.

And now the bloodline is broken.
    You didn’t protect them.
    You trusted evil.
You let the doctors play god.

    Enjoy the fallout.
    , and

Farmers should be caring for their communities, not the entire world. We were never meant to stretch our hands across oceans just to feed strangers while our neighbors starve. Planes, ships, electricity, internet—strip it all down. We’ve lost ourselves in the noise. What we need is a return to simplicity. A return to truth.

We don’t need a million corporations trying to feed the planet. We need real people—farmers, butchers, bakers—feeding their own people. Communities sustaining themselves, not outsourcing their survival.

This obsession with profit, with sending products to China or chasing global markets—it’s hollow. Money has become the root of every deception. It twists motives. It blinds hearts.

It’s time to go backward. Time to dismantle this global machine. It is not progress. It is destruction, disguised as growth. And it’s killing the soul of the world.

  154. @logicae4096

    April 1, 2025 at 9:41 am

Wired is only highlighting the good things USAID has done and not covering the bad. USAID has done some good but the agency has also been pushing what I would term cultural imperialism, trying to spread woke culture and ideas around the world. Are the people of the US so arrogant as to push its ideology to other countries and cultures? Do you respect France’s culture? If so why push your ideologies onto it? Do you respect China’s culture (not country)?

  155. @Timothy-g7k

    April 1, 2025 at 9:57 am

The USA is broke. We are borrowing money and adding to the debt unsustainably. Massive Federal cuts are vital for any hope for a future. Do contribute to charity if you are so inclined. The crap funded by USAID is just stupid.

Trump, Musk and others are killers. They knew people will die by closing USAID. People must demonstrate against USAID cuts, for the sake of peace. What Trump and Musk are doing, is the same thing as war. It’s genocide. If you would demonstrate against wars, you should demonstrate against USAID cuts, because it’s the same thing. We must act as fast as possible, for people are dying at this moment. If you think this mass killing won’t end up in extremely serious concequences for USA safety, you must have never heard of 9.11. That was an attack against USA for opressing foreign countries too. USA is the richest country in the world so it’s only natural that it provides aids to poor countries, besides, in terms of the amount payed one person each for foreign aid, USA ranks only 16th, paying 193.1$ each in 2023.
