Google/android have allowed unfettered access to governments the world over. The security wasn’t removed on android because it was never there in the first place.

Interestingly, most people were unaware of Advanced Protection until now, with only 2% of U.k. users having it installed. Note that all communication devices/phones must adhere to the same security protocols. Google already meets these compliance requirements

Does that mean that Apple will be dropping their prices for it’s United Kingdom customers who are now getting less than other countries Apple customers now that it’s dropped it’s trousers and bent over for this vile government? Obviously they have a nice tax arrangement that they didn’t want to compromise, just like Google has.

Apple were asked by the government to provide a backdoor into their advanced data protection tool, so that user’s would think their data was safely encrypted when the government actually had access.
The UK government threatened legal action if Apple refused to create the backdoor, or informed users that it had be asked to create the secret backdoor.
Apple refused to create a backdoor which would secretly expose user data, and instead removed the advanced data protection option for users in the UK, so that users in the UK will know and understand that their data remains accessible to the government when stored in iCloud. How is this Apple’s fault?
Also, by introducing advanced data protection in the first place, Apple were attempting to provide users. with more privacy and security than either Google Drive or OneDrive offer. By removing the option for advanced data protection, iCloud just goes back to being on par with the same level of protection offered by Google or Microsoft.
Apple tried to offer a cloud security and privacy option in the UK above and beyond what is offered by Google or Microsoft, the UK government demanded that Apple provide them secret access to it while telling users their data was safe, and Apple said “no we aren’t going to provide secret access to user data while telling users that no one can access their data.”
@CraigMilesYoutube
February 23, 2025 at 2:29 pm
Does that mean Google and Microsoft have a backdoor?
This makes no sense, as all other services still available in UK, including end to end encryption.
Personally I’ve got an ancient android phone, and I doubt the UK government is much interested in pictures of my cats, and a ten year old resume, stored on Google drive 😂

We’re seeing more security breaches than ever.
Cyberattacks are getting more sophisticated, putting users at greater risk. Yet, the Digital Markets Act (DMA) and now the UK is forcing companies like Apple to weaken their security, opening the door to even more threats.
A closed platform provides protection-strict app control, stronger security measures, and less exposure to malware. The DMA and UK forces users to take unnecessary risks. This needs to stop! Security should never be compromised.
There must be room for closed, secure ecosystems! We should somehow let them know with a clear loud voice!!
