Isn’t the back made of plastic?

    • Kuhle Ngesi

      August 8, 2020 at 11:05 pm

      No it’s not

    • arkhamkillzone

      August 8, 2020 at 11:10 pm

@Kuhle Ngesi alright. Unboxtherapy don’t know what they are talking about then. They were saying the back feels like plastic and when viewing the premium the fool asked “is this the dummy phone” haha.

    • Devin

      August 8, 2020 at 11:32 pm

The regular note 20 has a plastic back. The ultra is glass.

spigen apparently has cases in the mystic bronze color by the way. 🙂

    • J.K.

      August 9, 2020 at 12:52 am

They do..I just ordered one but not available now till Sept 13 in mystic bronze, at Amazon.

    • Owen Spiva

      August 9, 2020 at 1:03 am

@J.K. Most of the high end reputable cases are either not able to be ordered yet (no known ship date), or are set as a pre-order and only available the first or second week of september.
Most likely has to do with when said companies were able to get their hands on dummy phones to properly design and test cases to meet quality standards.
Speaking of which, stay away from all the shady cases on amazon that can already be order and shipped, and already have dozens of positive reviews… as if people have already got the products and put them on note 20’s.

      August 9, 2020 at 1:26 am

@Owen Spiva I ordered the white N20U and got the white silicon case and the brown leather one off samsung’s site and they already shipped. So i’ll have two cases for the N20U but no phone for them lol

So, let me get this straight..they removed the ToF camera, downgraded the base storage to 128gb, traded the stainless steel frame for aluminum, downgraded the charge speed from 45w to 25w and kept nearly everything else the same from last year’s note 10+…how is this an upgrade?

I’m currently using note 10+ . And god knows how hardcore this phone is . I accidently put my phone in the gap when u open up your car trunk . I even close my trunk 3 times and wondering why i can’t close it . My super Note 10+ was in the way . Guess what ??? No dent at all . So I’m wondering if 20 ultra have that kind of superpower 🙃 i also dropped my phone screen first waist height . No scratch at all . I’m a proud mama 😆

Its nice, I want a bigger tablet unfold and the front screen to pass the seven point like no other, how about a padded clicker laser pointer instead of a hard pen. I want innovation real flagship of the future , and I want dex to stay wirless with a custum slot holding cover that also makes the outer camera’s indented and safe.

    August 9, 2020 at 6:39 pm

It just gets me upset that these reviews can’t just be more up front about the camera focus versus the s20 ultra. I was in best buy yesterday and there is a SIGNIFICANT difference in the auto focus that just took me a min to see. My S20 Ultra couldn’t shoot video consistently! All that money and the camera was a big let down! After a few updates the photo focus had some improvement but not video. For people looking to pre order the darn phone why can’t these reviewers just say the damn truth?!?!? Note 20 Ultra laser focus is great compared to S20 Ultra. The focus is instant! With the S20 Ultra the reviews weren’t as forthcoming about the focus issues until the phone was released. Then we were told updates should fix the issue. BS! I wasted a lot of money gambling on software updates. Thanks reviewers! So for anyone that reads my comment, note 20 Ultra focus issues are not there!

      August 9, 2020 at 8:56 pm

While I’m at least somewhat empathetic to your situation — we’ve prob all been burned by some product or service at one time or another — there _were_ a number of pro reviewers who pointed out the Galaxy S20 Ultra’s AF issue early on. Not sure who you’re subbed to (besides CNET), but MKBHD was one of them.
You didn’t specify whether you had preordered your Ultra, but my advice going forward would be to NOT do that; always wait until the proverbial dust settles after a device’s release and a lot of reviews are in.
And even if you didn’t preorder it, you had a return window and should’ve taken advantage of it. Never believe that a hardware issue can be rectified with software updates, no matter how much you like or trust the company; Google Pixel 2XL owners learned that the hard way back in late 2017.
If the issue still bothers you that much, you should consider selling the S20 Ultra to buy the Note Ultra. I realize you’ll lose some money that way, but you’ll lose more if you were to trade the S20 in to Samsung.

    • MY TECH LIFE

      August 9, 2020 at 10:25 pm

@Sharky165 I’ve been burned by Samsung before just like many others with the note 7 debacle. I’ve had issues with a few other phones from other OEM’s Yes, I pre ordered the Ultra. I even went into best buy to check it out and told the Samsung rep something is wrong with the camera. I was brushed off and he told me that I should look into the S20 that he ordered. Haha. I buy a lot of phones and always get the high end model.
I get what you’re saying about pre ordering but as a consumer I shouldn’t have to worry about a camera having such focus issues in 2020. MKBHD mainly spoke of the 108mp sensor size and how close up pics will be distorted. Any issue with auto focus could be fixed with software updates. Many reviewers after it was released kept mentioning software updates. Even Samsung acknowledged the issue and said updates are coming to fix the auto focus. There were even complaints with the other S20 models.
I pre order most my phones because that’s when you can get good deals. I traded my Note 10+ so returning the phone would’ve been a pain. I’ve already sold my Ultra and pre ordered the note.
My point is that the reviewers hold back info so they can keep making extra videos down the road. She was specific in saying she saw some improvements she that more info would come later. If I had the time to make reviews and was established I would have been very specific to this issue. They get review units for a reason. Unfortunately, the first impressions videos are too vague for people that want to pre order.
When I tested the Note 20 Ultra laser focus at BB I know the camera will be fine.
This time I didn’t trade-in phone so I do have a the ability to return if there are other issues like with the screen or new chip set.
I love when they say, I haven’t had the phone that long so we’ll save that info for the full review. Anyone who is tech savvy can spot issues right away. Another example is screen issues.. opo8pro and Nord come out and all of a sudden a bunch of people have tint/color issues. Where were the voices of all the reviewers when they received their review units? The issues always pop up after the phones are in the consumers hands…. $1500 phone and can’t record videos in moderate to low light? That’s messed up! Every reviewer should’ve said don’t buy the S20 Ultra. I know I would’ve been able to say it.

    • MY TECH LIFE

      August 9, 2020 at 11:12 pm

@Sharky165 galaxy fold is a good example of how reviewers need to be a safety net for the consumers. Even though the accidental “screen protector” peel off started things off.. Lol

If I’m not stuck with iOS better accessibility features. Beside I like your trustworthy reviews and also ❤️ you. If it’s your recommendations, it’s also on my buying lists.. just like when you recommend the iPhone 11 and when I saw your SE & 11 pro comparison. Both the 11 & the pro max got my debit. Not brag, just saying.. ❤️✌️

The phone is nice but if you are living in Europe no point to get it because the European version processor chipset will be Exynos 990 wich different from Korean and USA version chipset Snapdragon 865+ wich is must faster than Exynos.

It’s funny that people make a issues out of the left side s pen but you never see things given to lefties. Another thing I don’t know many people that don’t use a case on their phones……so bump not a problem or is it.

    August 9, 2020 at 8:31 pm

Why does Samsung has to do either the top, or in this case the Galaxy Note20’s bottom bezel thicker than the other three bezels? Why can’t they just do all four bezels on uniformed sizes? It doesn’t look good to have three bezels the same size and one thicker than the rest.

Such a new and refreshing review from CNET on a Samsung phone 📱. Usually get the obviously apple fan girls . The note 20 ultra is a beast I’m still Happy with my s 20 ultra but I’m tempted

  44. Tor Hunemark

    August 9, 2020 at 8:43 pm

Typical by Samsung to have a fragile backside not you have to cover up in order to protect it and in this case also when writing.
After having to deal with Samsung’s lousy experiments and proprietary versions of if NFC, Bluetooth, etc. with the s8 I’m never going Samsung again.
The Sony Xperia xz-1 compact felt like a breeze to use after being stuck with the quirks and bloated OS of the s8 for three years.

    @CNET
The Prices of New Samsung Phone are Overpriced.
1st Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra (512GB) should cost 999€.
2nd Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra (256GB) should cost 899€.
    3rd Samsung Galaxy Note 20 (256GB) should cost 699€.

  48. Choo Choo MotherTrucker

    August 9, 2020 at 11:54 pm

The only premium about it is the price. I’m tired of phone feeling “premium”. Give me a phone under $500. Google Pixel 4A for the win for me. JAJAJA

  49. Datrebor

    August 10, 2020 at 12:00 am

The Note 20 Ultra is $100 cheaper than the S20 Ultra and if you pre-order you get $150 in Samsung Cash. That makes the Note 20 Ultra even a better deal. It looks like its the Note 20 Ultra for me.

Don’t waste money on new smartphone. Especially on android phone. Their value will reduce a lot in a couple of year. Now its time to buy samsung note 9. Flagship 2018 that cost 1,200 dollar at that time.

again Exynos and snapdragon are 2 different phones look at some YouTubers they are complaining about Exynos battery and camera and heating again omg!

  67. Dammika Jayasekera

    August 10, 2020 at 4:20 pm

No snapdragon outside USA, So subpar battery life and performance than every other phone, no high res and high refresh at the same time, minus the headphones too now and boom you have another genuine iphone competitor. Those who buy samsungs will still buy it, becasue just like iphones its cool to have the latest iphone. tech savy people will look elsewhere. Asus has been doing good stuff the last 2 years. I hope they can improve the camera department next year and then we will have a new win. If samsung is not careful they will end up like nokia!

Needs a 500 MB upgrade right out of the box plus a batch of updates are coming in literal weeks after the first upgrade, leaks from inside the company says 86% of the Samsung Note users won’t upgrade

  70. WishesNWorks

    August 10, 2020 at 5:35 pm

Why you guys gotta keep updating the part of the article that says it gets hot. Man that IS a deal breaker. Heat kills electronics. How is a snapdragon suddenly getting hot?? That’s reserved for exynos.

just gonna wait 6 months for the release of a Note20 Ultra-R for right handed artists like myself. i guess most visual artists are lefties which is why they made this decision for such a broad swath of stylus users in Autodesk Sketchbook Pro and iBis Paint and MediBang Paint

  80. DJ THINK realdjthink

    August 11, 2020 at 4:58 am

i just wish Samsung would reintroduce the embedded stylus for their tablet line like the Note 10.1 that i still have which has lost its ability to sense touch once i had to open the tablet for unusual troubleshooting (dust collected under the glass)

  81. k l

    August 11, 2020 at 6:29 am

I guess the real reason to get this is the 120 hz and the quick transfer feature.Otherwise there is not much new. I believe the camera is good but nothing mayor compared to my note 10 plus. My s20 Ultra has worse picture quality then my one plus 8.

  82. Franny P.

    August 11, 2020 at 7:47 am

1:17: Exactly the same dilemma I have with this edition of Galaxy Note… Why Samsung moved it to the left side? I still can’t find a probable reason apart from these three…

    1. If you’re right handed (like majority of us) they expect you to use the S-Pen when you’re using the phone in landscape mode.

    2. They have no more room to the right because of the camera hardware or because they moved all the buttons on the right from Note10/10+’s left side placement from last year.

    3. They want to pattern the placement of the buttons to how it was placed on their most current phones like the S20+/S20Ultra.

  83. Paul Mukherjee

    August 11, 2020 at 7:56 am

Samsung is fooling, cheating and looting innocent customers…. Cheap Plastic body on Note 20, No sd card provision, no 120 hz refresh rate at USD 999.00 ??? Low saturation and inferior quality display on Note 20 ULTRA which lacks the crispy bright colors normally found on Amoled displays, no 3.5mm headphone jack, no 45 watt fast charger coming at USD 1300 is absurd. Lower Mah battery with the slower & inferior Exinos chips in most parts of the world. This is a joke from Samsung targeting gullible customers who will fall prey and spend hard earned money on this junk….

  84. Taco Boo

    August 11, 2020 at 2:01 pm

You cant remove the s pen with your right hand?? Hope you learn to do that girl…. Maybe you’re just a little slow, but i hope you learn to do that-its much easier.

  85. Corey Smith

    August 11, 2020 at 4:19 pm

You could always just grab the pen with the right hand even though it’s on the left side. Let’s chance to drop it when you do that switching of hands

  86. Øystein

    August 11, 2020 at 7:17 pm

Why do you take the pen out with the left hand if you are right handed? When using the pen on my Note 10+ I put the phone in the left and THEN pull put the pen with the right hand. I would still do the same if I got the Note 20 Ultra. Alot less hassle and more natural to do.

  87. Øystein

    August 11, 2020 at 7:25 pm

-Uhm.. You will not need to loose the effect of the color if you just use a clear cover..🙈
-And it does not get less fingerprints than Note 10+ but it just shows alot less because of the finish.
