Mine keeps saying “can’t transfer data”. I’ve got them in the same Wi-Fi network and also connected by an Ethernet cable. Any ideas?

I’m in the same boat. Tried multiple times, but still fails

      Same.. 😞

The problem is described in more detail here:
Both PS5s are connected via LAN.
I am logged in to both PS5s with my PSN account.
Both PS5s can access the Internet without any problems.
When I start the data transfer on the PS5 Pro, the old PS5 is also found.
Confirmation by holding the power button on the old PS5 until the confirmation tone also works.
After that, “please wait” is displayed for at least 5 minutes!!!
Then I get the message “The data cannot be transferred. Error code NW-102235-3”
When I want to look on the PlayStation website to see what the error code means, this code doesn’t seem to exist.
I suspect NW stands for network.
I also tried a WiFi connection, but unfortunately I had exactly the same problem.
I’m super frustrated right now, it should have been such a nice day…

If you have playstation ➕ you can just skip this and download everything from the cloud correct me if I’m wrong.

  4. @Clonee17

    November 7, 2024 at 3:28 pm

Why can’t you just reset the old ps5 and log into your account on the new one? That seems easier than having to have 2 ps5 turned on and connected to ethernet.

My transfer interrupts at around 4-10% each time. I am trying it for the 4th time now.

I’ve got two ssd hard drives in my ps5 and when i get my ps5 pro i will be installing a 2nd ssd to it. When I do the data transfer, will it transfer to both hard drives or will i need to do them separately?

  9. @bsatb

    November 7, 2024 at 3:55 pm

If you have an SSD in your ps5 I recommended you transfer as much as you can to the SSD and then place the SSD in your ps5 pro. The reason being because it just works on the new console no formatting needed. You’ll save A LOT of time if you can move all your games onto the SSD. Then the only transfer you’ll have to do is users and settings.

    • @MattDoza

      November 7, 2024 at 4:11 pm

This! And backup your data like saves and media to a thumb drive and restore onto the Pro. I’m not messing with this transfer process at all lol

    • @bsatb

      November 7, 2024 at 4:15 pm

@ do you put the SSD in before you turn on the ps5 pro to do the data transfer? Only thing I’m not sure about is what order I’m supposed to do it

    • @MattDoza

      November 7, 2024 at 4:19 pm

@ it’s a good question. I would think it’s safer to boot the Pro and update then sign in with your account and then shut off and install. I don’t know if the system would try to format that SSD if you just install before first boot.
