He said “that’s how easy it is to fly a helicopter”. NOT! All the variables: collective, throttle control, anti torque, cyclic pitch control, etc. coordination is paramount and very difficult or everyone would be doing it 🫤

Yesterday in London, I sat in my room looking at the sky, with a huge beautiful post full moon. There were two or three helicopters ruining the sky. I sat there and watched the perfect Oct night looking at the sky, empty blue, memorising with it’s space that is free for everyone. Then I thought we are approaching the era when it is about to end.
The human race must and will progress. But in that progression we also lose much. And the days that the night skies are filled with these things are something I look forward to with utter dread.

Wasn’t similar with cars? E.g. you had a house, a cottage and an open field with wilderness. Now in many places there are motorways and other roads

@@sebastianzukowski7985 I’m in stoke Newington looking at the moon and a clear sky. It gives me peace and freedom of spirit to see that space. In 10-20 years that will be gone. I’ve dreaded it for a long time to be honest as it’s that close.
We need some escape from a city and the sky is the best we have

I think the FAA may have a slight issue with several parts – 1. Pilot certification 2. Aircraft certification 3. landing zones etc (so called vertical ports) just use helicopter pads lol – charging stations for these and the infrastructure all yet to be built… now goto a Tesla car charge area and watch how many cars need to be there for 40 mins to charge the car. Now think if you have so called air taxis – How many will be able to charge and turn around these so called air taxis in reasonable time etc All possible to overcome but it needs time and 2025 is probably not enough time…

Carbon fiber manufacturing is cool, but it’s been around for 50 years and not exactly new tech or this aircraft. Same with flight simulators.
I was hoping they spend more time on the stuff I was really curious about, but they rushed through it. How exactly is it quieter, is it spinning slower? Is it the blade tips? How quiet is it? Like what are the decibels? How many engines can it loose and still fly? How about when it’s hovering? I have lots of doubts because on my small drone, any engine failure causes it to flip and fall out of the sky. I would love to have seen test video to prove it can still fly with those failures.

Not a taxi. These Giant Drones that can carry a few humans will not fix transportation for the masses. Its real goal is to be a cheaper alternative to helicopter. Still only rich people will be able to afford it. I think we will see Giant Drones ferry the rich over specific routes that avoid places with a lot of buildings or people on the ground.

There’s no way this thing will ever be faster than a car if its max range is only 160km. Better pivot to aerial sightseeing/tourism _quick_ .

I own 13k shares of this. Going to try to get to minimum of 20k. I hope the price doesn’t skyrocket too soon before I can get some more. I think this will be a 10 bagger within the next decade.

@@flinx I don’t own Archer. I don’t know what you mean, I didn’t compare the stocks? I think Joby is better, and my bet is Joby will dominate the eVOTL space. Stanley Drukenmiller owns Joby too, but he doesn’t own Archer, albeit his position in Joby is small. Stanley is a very smart Billionaire investor and I respect him a lot.

I would like to have heard more about the FAA aircraft certification progress. What are the contingency procedures in the Joby for critical systems failures? What happens if a motor fails? What happens if a propeller gets stuck in a horizontal or non-vertical position? Does the aircraft then have to land like a conventional airplane? If so, where? How much battery reserves (time) does it require at its planned landing time? Lots of questions. Hopefully the answers are coming…?

Surely we will see these “air taxis” take flight only in the bigger, busier cities first as airport transfer vehicles before they trickle down to those smaller cities and rural areas that have fewer established transit services and really need them (like Las Vegas, NV and Emporia, VA). Los Angeles and New York City will, inevitably, be first in line. But I will keep following updates on the service, and we will see how well it performs in the transit/travel market.
