I did this a few times during Christmas. Even though it’s only 1080p it’s still cool. I can buy the Vision Pro but don’t know if I want to 😅 AppleCare+ will add another $300+
@Nighthunt01
December 27, 2023 at 6:17 pm
heh, almost forget for a minute that the Vision Pro costs $3,499 USD

Aren’t these fantastically immortal times, Apple? When they can raze buildings and still have vivid footage of them, both outside and in, to share with posterity.

They have that already. It’s called matterport.

I like you, but concerned about the legion go review. Re-visit this device on its own merit, or get someone who is into PC gaming.

When will he figure out none of this is real and he’s already living in a VR world?

Pretty sure the only ones who care about this headset are Corn companies and Corn… enthusiasts 😂

Um what does corn have to do with this? Is it wrong to like corn? It tastes delicious

Ao are you going to do a review on the Massimo watch, uh I mean the new Apple watch 😁
@chrismv102
December 27, 2023 at 11:58 am
I’ve been a computer user since my Apple II in the late 70’s. I embrace new technology. Not every new thing is useful. The Apple Watch for instance. Everything it does is available on my iPhone and more and it’s already in my pocket.
The idea of having those goggles on my head for any length of time doesn’t interest me. It seems like too much of a compromise. Personally I don’t like to wear a watch and I suffer wearing glasses for my aging eyes. For a real VR experience it needs to be available to all around you not just for me. It needs to be in the real world.
@joelface
December 27, 2023 at 10:38 pm
Don’t see that happening anytime soon. There is AR and VR, but none of them project onto the real world for everyone to see at the same time.

I am really happy with the spatial video from my iPhone 15 Pro. You have to get close (3 feet/1 m) to your objects, to get fully 3D effect. I watch my spatial video on a Meta Quest Pro. Thanks to Hugh Hou, who teach us how to do that.

Just bought an Insta360 X3; would love to see/relive my 360° videos!
@Seven3four1
December 27, 2023 at 7:13 pm
iPhone comes with front and back cameras and lidar. Not unreasonable to see them doing 360 video. And/Or they can just buy insta360 and integrate their software and/or hardware.
@joelface
December 27, 2023 at 10:37 pm
360 video is NOT 3D generally, and it certainly isn’t usually volumetric. But, the Lidar sensor specifically SHOULD made rudimentary volumetric capture possible. Ultimately I’m quite disappointed that Apple’s “volumetric video” is really just stereoscopic capture, a type of technology developed in the 1830s. That said, I’ll take it because it’s at least starting the journey towards it… but I hope by the next iphone release we’re seeing something much more evolved.

December 27, 2023 at 8:28 pm
Probably can do that sort of stuff to do with moving inside of images and videos through a motion sensor inavation have a box on all sides 🤯
@joelface
December 27, 2023 at 10:41 pm
SO disappointed that Apple’s “volumetric video” is just stereoscopic capture, a type of technology developed in the 1830s. The only upside is that they’re at least starting the journey towards true volumetric capture. I really hope by the next iphone release we see something a lot closer. The LIDAR scanner should at least play some role!

Imagine that Taylor Swift sells tickets for virtual attendance via Vision Pro. They can sell limitless tickets to people and there are price tiers, the more you pay, the closer you get just like real concert. The concert organizer just put up hardware at those spot. People who want to attend but don’t want to hustle for parking spots, etc, can attend virtually. Not imagine NFL, NBA, Premier League, Olympics. We will get there.

3d tvs failed because there was not much content for them and you had to wear glasses but with vision pro you alreadt have glasses on and your iPhone is the 3d recorder so yes it may be the future

But this is just a starting out give Apple time with new tech and I’m sure the next Vision Pro will be better
