A rumor going on right now on the internet is that OpenAI has achieved AGI internally in secret and there was a power struggle and Sam had a falling out with the company, so they fired him.

How can you fire someone who actually gave birth to the company? It’s like separating the baby from its parents as an analogy. Apple did this about 40 years back and for the next 13 years Apple was orphaned and almost went dying until Steve returned back to Apple in 97′ and rescued it. The rest of team in OPENAI share the vision. They do not have the vision that Brockman and Altman had. If they had they would had their own OPENAI. This is definitely no good for OPENAI and its immature Board.

Given the magnitude of power this technology affords its owners, the Apple analogy doesn’t really work

Is it possible that OpenAI was on the verge of becoming a subsidiary of a powerful entity, in exchange for a significant financial investment? Perhaps Sam Altman resisted such a move, leading to his unexpected departure.

Conversely, it could be that Altman himself was becoming a pawn of a larger organization, pursuing agendas that could have broad societal implications. If the OpenAI board members discovered this, it might explain his abrupt exit.

In the recent event satya nadella joined event and sam asked him in open forum about his plans on openai and satya didnt’ comment anything about his investments or partnership with open AI rather he boasted about running models on Azure platform.

He just pointed out that it’s all just illusory, that it was just a fun video game but Users should cross reference all answers. They didn’t like that answer; they went with what they ‘felt’ was right, instead.

Sam Altman was secretly capitalizing on OpenAI’s tech in his own portfolio companies and tried to lie about that when confronted.

I’m really thinking the issue is that he hasn’t aggressively monetized the platform. I think in the next 6 months we’re going to see the enshitification of all openAI related products

I think that’s the best decision OpenAI board ever made, or else he would’ve sold it to Microsoft or anyone who’s ready to pa deviating from the initial purpose of the company being Open. OpenAI is better off without him tbh.

Im tearing up reading the news and finding out he lost his job, he was everything to me, my idol that I had when I was just a kid and the reason why I got into science and machine learning, screw the company for firing him!

Dry your tears. Sam wasn’t mortally wounded, just a little blindsided. Whatever you (and everyone else) thought you knew a day ago, is suddenly ancient history. I said there was NO WAY he’d go back to OpenAI, But it looks like I was wrong.

Corporation´s “Human Rights” or “Legal recognition as a person” need to go away if we want to save the planet…. every person that makes a decision needs to be responsible of the consequences of that decision. Altman out at this speed is only an indicator of a “bad board” or that something really serious happened with the AI and we don’t know it.
