Climate justice is taking center stage — geopolitically, socially and morally. In a contagiously courageous conversation, Member of Parliament in the UK David Lammy and Tennessee state representative Justin J. Pearson discuss how brave leadership can shepherd global movements and uplift historically marginalized communities in the face of humanity’s greatest challenge: climate change. “We must have outrage, but we must have optimism as well,” says Lammy.

Countdown is TED’s global initiative to accelerate solutions to the climate crisis. The goal: to build a better future by cutting greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2030, in the race to a zero-carbon world. Get involved at

A friend once said to me, “I don’t HAVE to, I want to.” (have/raise a baby w/me) … one of the most beautiful sentences I have ever heard someone say to me. We didn’t/haven’t yet bc we lacked the resources (I grew up in poverty, once was enough), but here’s to ALL the kids of the future being born to parents/families who felt 100% the same way 🥂🍾

I heard lots of slogans here – but not one mention of capitalism. Name the problem – the inability to do so is why Justin lost momentum in TN. Don’t dance around the problem – the incentives under capitalism guarantee that the climate crisis and refugee displacement and the exploitation of black and brown people with continue to get worse. If the answer is ‘voting’ or looking to legislation or politicians, then you are not serious about solving our pressing problems. We don’t have time for rhetoric. The people have the power. Western militaries are the worst abusers of the climate. This talk seems important – but it is miles behind the conversations and ACTION we need to address the climate crisis. The idea that anyone ‘applauds’ Biden on climate initiatives is ridiculous. Capitalists can’t solve the climate crisis. Climate justice??? we are nowhere near that. We don’t have time to find the ‘common ground’ with climate deniers and capitalists. Basing a movement on religious rhetoric is bound to fail. This is feel good stuff for those who are not yet suffering like the global south. Sadly, this is as far as ‘the left’ in the USA goes.

@An D Comrade, its from the communist text, genius. I’m not the one mixing it, I’m the one exposing it. But, that’s right, pretend its all just a bad dream. lol

Let’s all go after the military industrial complex for running the geo engineering program that is what’s being called “climate change” S.A.I. (stratospheric aerosol injection) (HAARP) and frequency reactive nanoparticles to charge the atmosphere with microwaves and hundreds of weather control patents.

  9. Just Pray

So the real concern is “black folks land”. Why does it have to be “black folks”? Why can’t it just be “folks”. Sounds racist.

I wish world institutions and mainstream media would stop pushing the ridiculous ‘theory’ that somehow mankind’s output of greenhouse gases are a significant factor in observed climate change. The reason why mainstream sources keep pushing it is clearly rampant CORRUPTION, both for getting research grants to prop up this bullshit, as the herd mentality is strong in academia, and in an effort to justify the continued existence of the energy source that is the most dangerous, least environmentally sound, non-renewable, and so economically bankrupt that it would not even exist without massive taxpayer subsidies, and that’s the nuclear fission industry, and its very well paid grifter ‘priesthood’ in academia and government, and the billions invested in it by the rich and the ‘finance industry’.

It’s FAR more likely observed changes in climate are the result of natural events outside human influence or control, just like climate has been scientifically demonstrated as changing for millennia BEFORE humans even existed. This belief that we are somehow changing climate significantly is nothing but a CULT, created for PROFIT, to justify and maintain the massive continuing THEFT of BILLIONS of public funds under false pretenses by the nuclear fission industry.

Climate justice? What a load of BS. The earth changes and we, will be shaking off by the earth like a bunch of fleas on a dog. Enjoy your time while you have it. 13000 years ago, where I live today was 1,5 miles of ice, give earth a break.

Ummm … if there is a commodity that should not be used, oil for example because it uses up too much of the oxygen in our atmosphere, fighting the construction of a pipeline that will transport oil is only going to hurt you more than it will help you. Instead of shipping it through a pipeline, as long as the demand for gasoline exists, they will transport it via oil tanker trucks.

Which is better, a pipeline to move it or many many many many many trips with tanker trucks?

If you wish to see oil discontinued as a commodity then electrify everything. This is the only sensible solution. Also, go onto Google and in the search bar enter the search term “existing pipelines” and then select “images” as your parameter. Yeah, there are so many pipelines it is stupid, and stopping the construction of one pipeline only necessitates many trips with oil tanker trucks instead which is far more polluting and expensive.

    The stupid, it burns!!!
