There is in fact a treaty that was supposed to prevent this very type of overreach until 2047. China has officially violated said treaty and ended Hong Kongs special trade status. Xi fails again.

@Pierre Paul English must not be your first (or second) language. I will make it simple for you to understand. Xi has failed to uphold the Sino-British agreement of 1997, and the “one party two system” rule. Hong Kong was promised their status-quo british style autonomy until 2047. China lied. Xi has embarrassed China on the world stage, yet again, and the economic fallout of his decisions will be disastrous for the common chinese citizen.

The problem is that HK protesters continued to cause chaos even after the extradition bill was removed. It became pretty much a city with no laws. What the news fail to report is that HK police chief and the HK Secretary of security asked Bejing for help and the Liaison office express this urgent need during the recent China congress hall meeting and China immediately took action. HK does not have a military of its own and China is responsible in protecting them in case of war with other country and should have the responsibility to protect national security because HK police force failed. It is establishing a guideline response just like calling in the US national guard, FBI, or US marshals to help a state suppress riots or interstate crimes.

@Joshua Canales I agree to fighting for rights but when protestors start damaging properties and continue non stop for months, someone needs to step in. The first step is establishing a guideline and how to respond. We have all seen orderly protest turn into riots. Who will help the police if 100 protestors turn into 100000 protestors next day? There are many prospective views of local business owners destroyed by the chaos that you dont hear about in the western news demanding the HK government to respond to control the chaos and they have no choice but to turn to Beijing.

The protesters asked for what they are getting in response for their own actions. They deserved to be tackled in they same way they behaved in the protest. No other countries has done it so considerately as the Hong Kong police, yet when they get for what they do and how they behave they conveniently blame China for the action. Of course, it’s pretty obvious. That’s why Mike Pompeo declared Hong Kong is not autonomous anymore. HK government is just a puppet of Beijing. Don’t forget when the US let CCP to join the game back in 90’s, CCP agreed to follow the US rules and there is no CCP rule at all.
