    ** SPOILER ALERT**
This title is for spec warriors or spec seekers.

Firstly, without seeing the title I thought it was a Nothing Phone (2) with that transperant back design, LoL 😅😂😂

Great looking, great priced, but the software support sucks
Makes no sense to buy that phone
    You’ll be upgrading every year

    • Mr. INTP

      May 29, 2023 at 2:45 am

You don’t buy this phone for stupid software or a damn selfie camera. You buy it for looking good and gaming.

Bring back the pop-up camera 🤦

No thank you; that’s a cheap, antiquated and easy alternative, really start pushing for better UDC.

    • Daniel Rajan

      May 27, 2023 at 3:33 pm

Pop-up camera was never easy.. they had to make room for it inside and it was a moving part.. but they were so much better cameras.. pretty practical and durable… and secure/private atleast when it’s inside 😅..

    • Kasallamacher

      May 27, 2023 at 6:40 pm

@Daniel Rajan they’re just highly inefficient

    • James Company

      May 29, 2023 at 12:08 pm

yes, having a pop-up camera increases privacy. contrary to a popular opinion that they’re not durable, nope, they are very durable. Been using the Mi 9t, this phone has been dropped and thrown even in an aquarium, still after the day I buy it since it was launch, it is still functioning well.

    • Kasallamacher

      May 29, 2023 at 3:17 pm

@James Company increases privacy 😂 quite ironic to care about that while using a smartphone that tracks everything. Especially Xiaomi

Ooof one year of support? That’s $600 a year, just pay the more expensive price for a longer supported phone

    • LINK

      May 28, 2023 at 10:43 pm

Its a gaming phone, you buy it for the hardware, not the software

Ive handled 2 gaming phones in the last 5 years to know that software isnt everything, miui is one of the better one and low priced

    • Mr. INTP

      May 29, 2023 at 2:43 am

@LINK These noobs just don’t get it. The RedMagic 8 Pro is a straight up MONSTER and very good looking phone. I feel guilty for saving so much money buying my RedMagic 8 Pro void while not sacrificing performance.

    • LINK

      May 29, 2023 at 5:44 am

@Mr. INTP I mean the monster of a hardware and battery itself is already a selling point

They treat software like if its only for 2 years the phone automatically dies, my previous xiaomi gaming phone was android 11 and im barely missing out on stuff. Stock xiaomi is already better than some flagship os

    • Mr. INTP

      May 29, 2023 at 5:53 am

@LINK Agreed. And who seeks advice from CNET when buying a gaming phone? Maybe they should stick to business computers and standard phones because surely they are clueless as to what your average gamer looks for in a gaming phone. I was like really focusing on the selfie camera? 🤣 Besides, who cares about the quality of a phone’s selfie camera. Give me a break. Smdh

    • OW

      May 29, 2023 at 11:31 am

@LINK if you’re in the tech sector you understand how critical software support is, especially me being in cybersecurity. I guess if you’re not in tech sector you see hardware as more important which makes sense, it’s an easy distraction. Most companies cut costs with lower software support and put an emphasis on hardware since it’s cheaper. I’m not buying any phone with less than three years of OS support/security updates.

  14. Jeremy Tanudtanud

    May 27, 2023 at 11:50 am

1 year of software support is fine, it’s not like I even update the software. I don’t bother with updating software updates since software updates are not 100% bug free. I trust updating apps more than updating the software. I only update the apps.

    • Zᴇᴋᴋᴇи

      May 30, 2023 at 1:44 am

      yes i like your point.
these people make it sound like 1 year of software support means after 1 year the phone just magically gets broken and does not work anymore.

Like for real i had an old 2015 phone and is still working fine without software updates up to last year(year 2022) the only thing that killed it was because of not being used anymore since i already bought a phone with stronger chip, and also it was often being battery drained obviously because im not using it. which means it’s not those 1 year software support drawback these people are hating about Redmagic gaming phone that matters.

    • Jeremy Tanudtanud

      May 30, 2023 at 1:56 am

@Zᴇᴋᴋᴇи I still have my pixel 4a 5g since I never updated the software at all, I only updated the apps and it still works perfectly fine with the exception of the screen got dimmer over time since it’s not as bright as it used to be. I use pixel 4a 5g as my secondary phone plus it’s the last pixel phone that supports google photos unlimited cloud storage. The sony xperia 1 iv is my primary phone because of the 21:9 aspect ratio 4k 120hz oled display, headphone jack like my pixel 4a 5g since I use the headphone jack all the time, no e-sim only physical sims since I don’t like e-sims since I like to swap out sim cards myself between my android phones without having to call customer service or going into a cell phone service provider to swap out sim cards that needs to be done with e-sim. Physical sim cards can’t be locked for security like an e-sim but it requires a puk code which you can get from your cell phone service provider customer service over the phone if you don’t know the puk code.

I dont need a desk, chair, and wall plugs to fully set it up, you need them

I can charge it under 40 minutes so I can use it all day without needing electricity, you cant

I can both game greatly and have a decent enough camera in 1 device, you need 2

The massacres of Poles in Volhynia and Eastern Galicia (Polish: rzeź wołyńska, lit.

The moral of the story: CNET is getting paid by all the usual phone manufacturers and don’t want to say anything that would jeopardize their pocket books. I own this phone and it’s straight up a BEAST and blows the Asus ROG 7 phone out of the water when compared to their respective price points. No thanks Asus, I’m going to keep that extra $1000 dollars in my wallet.
