Besides GitCoin (), are there any other opportunities for developers and product people to get involved with blockchain hackathons?

Ask any audience a question as to how many of the attendees have loans, credit, mortgage, securities etc. Everyone has one, in fact, everyone in United States has one, in fact, US economy runs on it. In the Blockchain world there is no concept of it … “it’s not about there is no application yet” but it’s more like, in physicist language, there is no mechanism.
Unless this is addressed, its just a novel idea.

7:52 info: there is a Blockchain where the miner order is randomly find & also the transactions are queued as the per the request….i.e. no alteration like in Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc…
    The Blockchain is EOSIO.

13:33 the EOSIO has reached a max. of 4000 txns/sec.. with EOS being the highest used for < 40% of capability. 17:27 Solidity is not the best language for Blockchain. Moreover, newer the language is, higher is the risk of bugs. EOSIO uses C++, which is a God Language since 1986. C++ has been explored way more times than Solidity, be it in terms of security.

Its sad this is considered “education” these days. Proof of stake is almost entirely centrally controlled. Defeats the entire purpose. Proof of work is agreeably horrible, but then calling proof of space “beautiful” is so irresponsibly dumb, its sad. Proof of space just takes the destructive energy of proof of work and instead uses sweatshop labor and manufactured physical computer parts namely hard drives. Sure rich Stanford snobs can ignore that proof of space is just as bad as proof of work for awhile as they avoid public realities. But it’s irresponsible to “educate” people with such problematic and incomplete systems as if they don’t have these issues.
The uses of Blockchain are seen to be lame, insignificant but still have these real problems. Your just selling convuluted scientology tech, that’s this class 🤮

Outstanding review of the state of the art for 2020. It’s interesting to see how fast this area has changed since 2020 and is still changing in 2022. Professor Dan Boneh has a great perspective and I enjoy his fast paced review of the most relevant topics.

He shills a lot of problematic VC pushed projects, which is obviously not apparent to the inexperienced audience. The best part is where they dress one of the symbolic users in a niqab, because why not add some misogyny to a talk about blockchains for no good reason. Women in Iran will love the symbolism.

You can say someone is a great teacher if they start with the first principles and then build on top. I don’t see that happening here. There is no follow on material shared too. These high level explanations just obfuscate true understanding,
