Or how about dont put so much pressure on a made up day????????‍♂️. It has everything to do with the people who think making resolution means anything.

I make some resolutions around mid-January. By that time, all of the Christmas stuff is put away, there are no more holidays for awhile, and I feel emotionally ready. Some resolutions that I’ve made in the past 5 years (and kept) were : finally finish my Bachelor’s degree, sell my house, and start a Master’s degree.

2023 is long. Really doesn’t matter to start on the first day. But to start doing what you want for yourself is what counts ????. No one is going to ask you if you started your new habit on january 1st or april 24th or whatever ????. Now is out reality!

I start mine in December, so by the time I make a resolution I already know how feasible it will be. If I can’t keep it up when I’m busy and I’m not riding a new year high, it needs changed before I resolve it

the problem with new years solutions is that they are bound to a specific date. people try it once and if the habit doesnt form within that one try, theyll have to wait another year

I’ve never made a resolution before until this year. To be honest, I’ve set ambitious goals throughout most of my life that always involved toning it up a notch in some aspect of my life and seen a lot of success because of that, but that’s also come with major side effects of time anxiety, shortened attention span, and phases of crippling burnout. So for 2023, I’ve been inspired by John Green’s recent video and decided to also take up his resolution, “tone it down a notch”. Should be a great year!

LMAO, new year’s resolutions are for sheep.. real ppl just fix what they don’t like about themselves (ASSuming it’s realistic) at the moment they realize it’s wrong (or soon thereafter).
Waiting for some arbitrary day just feeds the same BS that’s causing the need to resolve-something.

You don’t, making shorter term goals that lead to a longer term goal is more viable.

People don’t have set discipline that’s what it boils down to. You can’t expect to be motivated every day, it’s not realistic. Habits and discipline, and change of mindset is the best way to make permanent changes. Also get rid of bad habits that rob you of whatever motivation you do have each day.

My trick is to start when it’s not new years because then I will continue it afterwards. It has worked great with 3D modelling and Spanish lessons with me even being capable of taking prolonged breaks and returning to it.

Bruh the best advice is to never start on a new year but a week before or early December so that by the new year hits , you’re already with it .

It’s a faulty process to make some excuse and wait for some arbitrary cycle change to make real change in your own life. You either want to be better or you don’t. Simple. As. That.
