Feeling like progress is impossible? You’re not alone — here’s how to keep pushing forward #TEDTalks
Malala Yousafzai has spent her life advocating for girls’ education — surviving an assassination attempt at 15, meeting with world leaders and then watching hard-won progress collapse when Afghanistan fell to the Taliban in 2021. That moment of despair forced her to completely rethink what it means to create change, and what she discovered replaced…

Let’s launch our garbage into the sun!
Ummm, no. Earth is messy. So can’t we just send our junk somewhere else? Aside from the moral quandaries raised by such poor stewardship of our already disheveled solar system, Earthlings probably haven’t made a habit of beaming literal garbage into space yet because we simply can’t afford to. Do not ever buy VIZIO. Not even as a budget TV. I have their flagship quantum P-series and it barely lasted 3 years. Horrible product with a ton of issues and very poor quality control. Plus, the other two options in this video are running much better operating systems (Google TV and Roku).

Vizio used to be great. While it’s true that Vizio has been bad with QC and firmware updates the last few years but it sounds like 2023 TVs from them are starting to return to being decent with their QC now.

Can’t help but agree with you about Vizio but I bought the Vizio OLED and to my surprise it’s a good TV. Well at least the one i got. I will never buy another Vizio TV once is enough for me. I did get what I wanted from the TV the OLED experience. I caught the 55 inch on sale for $1000.00 dollars. My next upgrade will most likely be a QD OLED from some TV manufacturer or maybe a OLED from LG. I’ll decide when the time comes.

@Mike Abili yeah Mike used to be is right. The biggest problem with Vizio is definitely quality control.

@Michael Wyckoff that is exactly what I am looking at now. Either the LG C2, Samsung QD-OLED, or Sony OLED.

I”m done with Roku, JUNK!!!

I love all my roku’s but I’m disappointed with that they only support Wi-Fi 4 and below… It reads most of my Wi-Fi 6 but not my Wi-Fi 6E… I love my Roku but it takes a good four or five seconds to start something from it.. lol

This review is terrible, there are several TV’s under $500 that offer HDR and local dimming, Hisense U6H and U7H, TCL 5 series and the Vizio M series…. All under $500… Better research needs to be done and I’d expect this from CNET…

So let me get this straight, the inclusion of a Roku alone makes the TV performance better and even if I prefer another platform? I’m just dead wrong? Got it! I haven’t watched cnet in years, it seems to have been suggested by the Roku algorithm that I have been remiss. I made a similar comment to this on another of your videos and was told that cnet has always preferred Roku, but I have to ask again, they’re paying you… Right? I mean this level of prostitution is and should be expensive. You shouldn’t debase yourselves like this on the cheap.

If CNET is getting paid by Roku, it probably has a legal obligation to make this relationship known to the public.

55 in is usually the cheap TV cut off, occasionally a 65.
Most of the automatic functions are junk turn them off and don’t turn the TV too bright and oversaturated (color)

Spend a little more, and get mini LED or QLED and local dimming. There are great options for a small extra cost. It will make a big difference to the HDR experience.
And, let’s be real, 4K is not much of a benefit over HD, especially at these sizes, but HDR is a huge benefit over SDR.
The TCL 5 Series has inherited some features from the 6 Series and is priced very competitively. Hisense’s U7 and U8 Series TVs are also great values.
Better yet, buy good equipment used.

Thank you for reviewing more basic models. Not everyone can afford a flagship model. This information should help reinforce the concept of “you get what you pay for”. I agree with some of the previous comments that it is worth it to spend a little more and step up to mid level models with local dimming, brighter screens and better features. Televisions last a long time and a cheap TV will annoy you for a long time.

if your target is indeed under 500 then there are better choices than what you have indicated. Hisense offers their 50U6H or 55U6H ULED TVS… I’m pretty sure in the TCL series you can get into their 5 series vs the 4 you mentioned. Vizio I think has a less than sterling quality record FWIW.
