It’s about 266 iphone 14s worth of resolution. Not very big, not very impressive.

it’s not only about the amount of pixels, it’s also about the quality of pixels. High quality pixels are usually less noisy/grainy, can capture higher dynamic range and capture more colours. Something an array of smartphone camera with the equivalent pixel count couldn’t do. Furthermore, the lens quality of the telescope is significantly higher as well.

@Computer Concepts Exactly (photographer here) The quality, clarity and size of the glass that’s capturing those pixels plays a huge role… You can use both a consumer-level lens and a pro-level lens on the same digital camera, same resolution. And the difference in sharpness and clarity of the pro lens is huge.

The advantage of being on the earth spinning the solar system while having this gigantic camera is the camera doesnt need to be carried anywhere since they use it to capture the space. The earth carries it woth different perspective everytime.
