It’s 1988, and Somalis are fleeing the city of Hargeisa. People are trying to get out, trying to save their families and sometimes their things. But in the city’s radio station, staff are packing cassettes and reel to reel recordings into a secret underground bunker. What’s on them? A slice of the country’s musical heritage, to remain for years in an underground room — until now. Listen to songs from the episode on this special playlist on Spotify:

_Be the person who breaks the cycle. If you were judged, choose understanding. If you were rejected, choose acceptance. If you were shamed, choose compassion. Be the person you needed when you were hurting, not the person who hurt you. Vow to be better than what broke you—to heal instead of becoming bitter so you can act from your heart, not your pain_ . ✍️

There was no mix tape. WTF is this? If I wanted to study the Somalian civil war I would select that video. Killing 50,000 of your own people would not work outside of Africa? There is some music at 10 minutes in…but with clown shoes talking over it, so not worth the effort.
